13:50 - Exeter - Doyen Quest

The live coverage on ITV this Friday kicks off with the Silver Bowl Novices’ Chase. Cases can be made for all four runners, but Doyen Quest could be the runner worth chancing.

The Dan Skelton runner has a recent run under his belt, while the vast majority of the field are returning from lengthy breaks.

The seven-year-old has won once from three attempts over fences, and he should be suited by the quicker ground more than most.

He was competitive on his latest outing when not beaten far by Irish raider Speculatrix at Chepstow. Steps up to three miles for the first time over fences, previously winning over the trip over hurdles in April.

14:25 - Exeter - JPR One

The Grade Two Haldon Gold Cup features a competitive six runners from Exeter on Friday.

Kalif Du Berlais sets the form standard, but it could be worth chancing JPR One, who was an excellent winner on seasonal reappearance in this race 12 months ago.

That form has substance, with runner-up Djelo landing last weekend’s Charlie Hall Chase. JPR One runs off 3lb lighter this time around. Excels over two miles, having also landed victories over fences at Lingfield and Newton Abbot.

He goes well on varying ground, but no rain between now and post-time would be considered a bonus. First-time out is typically the time to catch the Joe Tizzard runner.

14:45 - Hexham - Mornington Beach

ITV also covers two races from Hexham on Friday, including a competitive handicap hurdle over two miles and four.

Mornington Beach is an interesting contender for the in-form George Bewley yard.

The five-year-old mare defied 80/1 odds to finish within five lengths of Spadestep over two miles at Hexham at the start of October, showing promise on her second start following wind surgery.

She was a point-to-point winner over three miles, and she typically saves her best efforts for this track. A step up in trip looks set to suit, and in-form rider Jonathon Bewley retains the ride. Each-way chance.

15:00 - Exeter - Ugo Bingo

Exeter’s next race on Friday is a very competitive handicap hurdle over an extended two miles. Plenty have leading chances, but the narrow preference is for Ugo Bingo.

The six-year-old Joe Tizzard was a beaten favourite over two miles and two at Exeter on his latest start, hitting the third last before being narrowly edged out in the closing stages when beaten a head by Hillsin.

This drop back in trip promises to suit, having won over a mile and six at Wincanton last December. Remains on a workable mark, and Brendan Powell is back aboard.

15:20 - Hexham - Menaggio

Menaggio looks like a big price for the Handicap Chase at Hexham, due off at 15:20.

The six-year-old was slowly away on his comeback run, and was pulled up before the ninth when having too much to do. Despite failing to make it round, he would be more race fit than some rivals in this race.

The Billy Aprahamian yard has been among the winners recently. The six-year-old has shown flashes of his best form this year, including when posting a career-best effort when second over two miles and five at Kelso.

Was an eleven-length winner over fences at Plumpton in November of last year. He looks set to get his ground this weekend, which should ensure that he has each-way claims.

15:35 - Exeter - Theonewedreamof

A competitive handicap chase rounds off the ITV coverage on Friday. Jupiter Allen holds strong claims, but has a layoff to contend with.

Therefore, Theonewedreamof is preferred on her second start since leaving the Gavin Cromwell yard.

Now with Dan Skelton, the six-year-old showed plenty on her stable debut at Chepstow in October when pecking the last when within reach of the eventual winner.

She stayed on strongly to the line after that mishap, indicating that this step up to three miles should suit. Gets plenty of weight from her rivals this Friday, and Harry Skelton is booked to take the ride.
