Saturday ITV Racing Tips - 10th May 2025

13:15 - Lingfield - Giselle

A disappointing field of three will line up in the William Hill Oaks Trial Fillies’ Stakes in ITV’s first race on Saturday.

It is impossible to overlook Aidan O’Brien-trained Giselle, who is already as short as 20/1 for the Oaks next month.

The three-year-old has won once from three starts under rules, but ran creditably on her first attempt over a mile at the end of last season when finishing third in the Group Three Staffordstown Stud Stakes. Clear on ratings, and plenty going in her favour.

13:35 - Haydock - Helnwein

Jumps action on ITV this weekend comes from Haydock, and there is a fascinating handicap hurdle due off at 13:35. Our Champ holds obvious claims, but there could yet be a big purse in Helnwein for trainer Alan King.

The seven-year-old is well-treated on his chase form, and he has won twice on seven starts over hurdles.

Was out-battled on his previous start at Chepstow over two miles, and should enjoy coming slightly back down in trip. Track and conditions should suit this weekend.

13:50 - Lingfield - Dashinwhitesargent

Dashinwhitesargent is the runner from the Hughie Morrison stable at Lingfield on Saturday, and Daniel Muscutt has been booked to take the ride.

The four-year-old needed the run at Epsom last month when finishing fifth of eleven over a mile and four. Returns to a more suitable trip on Saturday, and is extremely well-handicapped on his efforts last season.

Was a winner on the all-weather at Wolverhampton over an extended mile last July, and has also won over this distance at Epsom.

14:05 - Ascot - Arisaig

The first of three ITV races from Ascot is due off at 14:05. Arisaig shaped better than the fifth in the Conqueror Fillies’ Stakes looks last time out, as he failed to get a clear run.

The four-year-old was progressive in handicap company before that defeat, and he has won twice from eleven starts on the turf.

In-form Callum Shepherd is once again aboard, and a big effort is expected on ground that he should relish.

14:25 - Lingfield - Candyman Stan

Candyman Stan looks to have strong claims in the 14:25 at Lingfield for the Andrew Balding team.

The four-year-old has won once from two starts on the all-weather, with that success coming by a nine-length margin over a mile and four at Lingfield last September.

Returned to action with a comprehensive win over the same trip at Brighton last month, beating Annexation by five lengths. Up 7lb, but is unlikely to have stopped improving.

14:40 - Ascot - Hickory

Hickory should be a major player in the Victoria Cup at a huge price for trainer Jamie Osbourne.

The seven-year-old is well-handicapped based on his excellent second at Wolverhampton at the end of last season, and he ran extremely well over course and distance when just two lengths behind Northern Express in the International Stakes last year.

Has finished in the top four in three big handicaps at the track, and that bodes well.

15:00 - Lingfield - Puppet Master

Aidan O’Brien’s dominance in the Classic trials could continue in the Linfield Derby Trial Stakes, as Puppet Master looks hard to oppose.

The three-year-old returned to the track with a decent fourth over a mile and two at Leopardstown, and he should strip fitter following that run.

That form was boosted on Wednesday, and he appears to be a contender that will take a step forward now up in trip to an extended mile and three.

15:15 - Ascot - Mighty Bandit

Warren Greatrex has been among the winners over the last two weeks, striking at 36%. His red-hot form could continue in ITV’s final race from Ascot on Saturday.

Mighty Bandit returned to the flat following wind surgery with a fine fourth at Leicester over a mile and four last month.

He caught the eye over hurdles last season, and could be well-handicapped based on his efforts over timber.

15:35 - Lingfield - Jabaara

Group Three action rounds off the ITV coverage on Saturday, and Jabaara makes plenty of appeal for trainer Roger Varian.

The four-year-old filly was last seen finishing sixth in Grade One company at Keeneland, and was twice a listed winner over seven furlongs on British soil last season.

Ran in some high-quality races last season, including when second to Porta Fortuna in the Group One Falmouth Stakes. If running to that form, she should be a leading chance.
