Saturday ITV Racing Tips - 13th September 2025

13:15 - Doncaster - Point Of Contact

ITV's coverage on St Leger Day kicks off with a competitive handicap over a mile. A chance could be taken on the Andrew Balding-trained Point Of Contact.

The three-year-old has been consistent throughout the season in hot handicaps, including when a close fifth behind Fifth Column at York last month.

Is proven on all ground, and is likely to give another solid account and a good price.

13:50 - Doncaster - Gewan

Gewan sets a pretty high standard in the Group Two Champagne Stakes, and should be pretty difficult to beat.

The three-year-old for Andrew Balding has won two from two under rules.

A repeat of his run in the Group Three Acomb at York, when beating Italy by over a length, last time would see him far too strong for this field.

14:05 - Chester - Sir Dinadan

Hamish is not a guaranteed runner in the Listed Stand Cup Stakes, meaning that at the prices, it could be worth chancing the unexposed Sir Dinadan for trainer Ralph Beckett.

The three-year-old gets the weight-for-age allowance, and has little to find on RPRs to compete at this level.

Has run in some top races this season, including when beaten just three lengths at a big price in the Group One Irish Derby.

14:25 - Doncaster - Venture Capital

A wide open edition of the Portland sees plenty of live chances. However, a chance could be taken on Venture Capital at a big price.

The Kevin Ryan yard is ticking along nicely, and the four-year-old has looked back to form on his last two outings, including when a close third in the Shergar Cup.

The selection already has a win to his name at Doncaster after winning over five furlongs last September.

14:40 - Chester - Artisan Dancer

Artisan Dancer has been knocking on the door on his last three starts, finishing second on all appearances.

The five-year-old for Charlie Johnston ran a stormer to finish a nose second at York on his last start, and this drop back to two miles shouldn't mean too many issues.

Acts at the track after finishing third of eleven over an extended two miles and two at Chester in May.

15:00 - Doncaster - Marvelman

Andrew Balding's Marvelman is yet to win on the turf, but the Group Two Park Stakes could be a perfect opportunity.

The three-year-old has run well in some big races already this season, including when a respectable third of ten in the Group Two Hungerford Stakes.

That was a career-best effort, and the retention of Oisin Murphy aboard is a big plus.

15:40 - Doncaster - Carmers

The Group One St Leger headlines the action on Saturday, and the absence of Ryan Moore ensures an interesting sub-plot surrounding the Aidan O'Brien runners.

Therefore, a chance could be taken on Carmers, who looks to be progressing at a rapid rate for the Paddy Twomey yard.

The three-year-old got the better of Further in the Group Two Queen's Vase over a mile and six in June, before a solid effort in defeat when staying on better than most to get to within a length of Pride Of Arras in the Group Two Great Voltigeur at York. Everything in place for a big run.
