13:15 - Haydock - Florida Dreams

ITV’s coverage this Saturday from Haydock gets underway with a handicap hurdle over two miles and three.

Plenty have chances in a wide-open contest, but race-fit Florida Dreams could be well-handicapped for the in-form Nicky Richards yard.

The seven-year-old ran an excellent race when returned over smaller obstacles at the start of the month, finishing a neck behind Hartington over two miles and four.

This trip should suit, and the gelding has been knocking on the door since winning on good ground at Hexham last October.

13:30 - Ascot - Pic D’Orhy

A very high-quality renewal of the Grade Two 1965 Chase includes Il Est Francais, Arkle winner Jango Baie, and the talented Gidleigh Park.

However, this weekend’s race is Pic D’Orhy’s Gold Cup. The ten-year-old has a stunning record at Ascot, winning on his last four starts at the track, including wins in this race in the last two seasons.

Has the added advantage of a recent run under his belt after running a stormer behind Djelo in the Grade Two Charlie Hall Chase at the start of the month. Plenty going in his favour, and should be primed.

13:50 - Haydock - The Jukebox Man

A strong renewal of the Graduation Chase is due off at 13:50, and questions can be posed of all five runners in the field.

However, exciting The Jukebox Man could return to action with a dominant jumping performance for the in-form combination of Ben Pauling and Ben Jones.

Connections had high hopes for the seven-year-old last season after winning the Grade One Kauto Star Novices’ Chase, before being ruled out due to injury.

This drop back to two miles and five shouldn't be as much of an issue for him as it is for others, having won in Grade Two company on seasonal reappearance at the end of November last year over two miles and four. Plenty to like about his chances before a potential run in the King George.

14:10 - Punchestown - Lossiemouth

Irish racing is also covered on ITV this weekend, as Lossiemouth makes her seasonal reappearance in the Grade One Morgiana Hurdle.

The Willie Mullins runner has plenty in hand over this field based on ratings, and she was sensational once again throughout the previous campaign, winning the Grade One Mares’ Hurdle and Grade One Aintree Hurdle.

She was a winner on reappearance last season when easily holding Teahupoo, and barring any slip-ups, she should kick off what could be a Champion Hurdle-targeted campaign with a victory.

14:25 - Haydock - Navajo Indy

The big handicap on the Haydock card this Saturday will be run over an extended three miles. Horaces Pearl is the second choice, but the main selection comes in the form of Navajo Indy for trainer Tom Symonds.

The improving six-year-old was an eye-catching second on his seasonal reappearance at Cheltenham last month when only narrowly beaten by French Ship, when a mistake cost him his chance of catching the winner.

However, he shaped well after the last, indicating that a staying trip should suit. He’s unexposed over three miles, and Gavin Sheehan is an eye-catching jockey booking. Plenty to like.

14:40 - Ascot - Wodhooh

The Grade Two Ascot Hurdle is the feature from Ascot on Saturday, and I’m a huge fan of Gordon Elliott-trained Wodhooh.

The improving five-year-old looks like one of note for the Mares’ Hurdle next March, and has quickly progressed through handicaps to hold her own in graded races.

She ended last season with a very impressive showing in the Grade One Aintree Hurdle, finishing a close second behind Lossiemouth, ending her perfect record over hurdles. Is taken to start another winning sequence on Saturday.

15:00 - Haydock - Grey Dawning

Dan Skelton is one of the best target trainers around, and he has made no secret that the Grade One Betfair Chase has been the aim for Grey Dawning.

The eight-year-old should relish the testing conditions at the track, and lost little in defeat when beaten two lengths by Royale Pagaille last year.

He is still incredibly unexposed over this trip, and he showed some excellent form at the back end of last season, beating Iroko to land the Premier Chase before finishing a close second behind Gaelic Warrior in the Grade One Bowl Chase.

Ticks plenty of boxes for a trainer and jockey combination bang in form.

15:15 - Ascot - JPR One

Joe Tizzard’s runners are in excellent form at present, and JPR One should still be well-handicapped to go close in the 15:15 at Ascot on Saturday.

The eight-year-old was disappointing in the Grade Two Gold Cup Handicap Chase last time when never involved.

However, a line could be drawn through that run, potentially indicating a need for it after a summer break.

Typically thrives at this time of the year, including when beating Djelo by under a length last November. If replicating that level of form, he has every chance of going very close on Saturday.

15:35 - Haydock - Whistle Stop Tour

Lucinda Russell & Michael Scudamore’s yard are picking up form, and they could have a nice type in ITV’s final race on Saturday.

Whistle Stop Tour looked a potentially improving staying prospect on his latest outing when narrowly denied when fighting back by Nab Wood at Ayr.

A return to softer ground seemed to suit his chances on that day, and he will likely get his preferred ground conditions once again this weekend.
