The feature at York on Saturday comes in the form of the Ebor Handicap. Eleven of the last 12 winners have been aged between four and six, while ten winners over the same period have carried between 9-1 and 9-9, as well as being rated 101+.
Furthermore, horses beaten last time out are 8/12, and previous winners over further than a mile and six are 7/12.
Based on the trends, there are five possible winners: Charlus, Subsequent, Yashin, Real Dream, and Roaring Legend.
A chance is taken on the latter, with Hollie Doyle booked aboard the Hugo Palmer runner for the first time. The selection looked like a major staying prospect after wins at Lingfield and Newcastle, but is yet to replicate that level in 2025 from two starts since wind surgery.
This could have been the aim for a long time, and a big run is expected at an each-way price.
