Saturday ITV Racing Tips - 25th October 2025

13:10 - Cheltenham - Springs A Girl

ITV’s coverage on Saturday kicks off with a competitive-looking handicap chase from Cheltenham. Sean Bowen is operating at a staggering 36% strike rate at present, and he will be aboard the lightly raced Springs A Girl for in-form trainer Martin Keighley.

The six-year-old mare ran a solid race on his chase debut last month, finishing a length second behind Breaking Cover. She will relish this step up to two miles and four, based on her best efforts over hurdles, which came over two miles and five last winter.

13:30 - Doncaster - Smart Vision

Doncaster joins the action at 13:30, as a competitive field competes over five furlongs. Smart Vision could be an interesting angle for the Jessica Macey yard, with George Wood taking the ride.

The four-year-old relished some cut in the ground, and was a more comfortable winner than the margin of victory suggested over the five furlongs at Leicester at the start of the month. Once again looks primed to excel on his preferred terms.

13:45 - Cheltenham - Catchintsavo

An interesting Novices’ Hurdle sees Irish interest at Cheltenham at 13:45. Catchintsavo could be the interesting play based on the prices for the team of Anthony Honeyball and Sam Twiston-Davies.

The five-year-old caught the eye in a couple of bumpers last season, including when third at Punchestown in May. On each occasion, he has shaped as if a staying trip would suit.

He has previously run over three miles, finishing second in a point-to-point in December 2024. Should give his running at a double-digit price.

14:05 - Doncaster - Oxagon

Grade One action at Doncaster comes in the form of the Futurity Trophy Stakes on Saturday. Hexagon could be an interesting angle for in-form John & Thady Gosden.

The two-year-old was an impressive winner at Sandown in July, before finishing second over course and distance, but within a length of the talented Puerto Rico in the Group Two Champagne Stakes.

The ground looked too fast for Oxagon last time when fifth in the Group One Dewhurst, and he should be capable of bouncing back with Oisin Murphy booked to take the ride.

14:20 - Cheltenham - Backmersackme

A strong field goes to post for a handicap chase over three miles and one at Cheltenham on Saturday.

A number of runners will likely have their sights set on bigger targets down the line. However, Backmersackme looks like one that has had this race in the plan for a while.

The six-year-old for Emmet Mullins was never a factor when eighth of 12 at Listowel on his latest start at the end of last month. Appears to have a race of this nature in him if ridden more prominently, and the services of Sean Bowen are clearly a major plus.

14:40 - Doncaster - Spanish Waltz

The Listed Prospect Stakes is due off at Doncaster at 14:40 on Saturday.

The unexposed Spanish Waltz should have leading claims for the Ralph Beckett yard after finally getting his nose in front under rules at Pontefract at the end of last month.

Should relish this kind of test on soft ground, and was a strong performer on debut on heavy ground when second behind Malachy’s Wish at Ffos Las. Hector Crouch takes the ride.

14:55 - Cheltenham - Sermandzarak

A Pertemps Hurdle Qualifier is due off at Cheltenham at 14:55. As expected, there is a competitive line-up set to go to post, but Irish raider Sermandzarak could be on an interesting mark.

The five-year-old for Gordon Elliott was a winner on his latest start over two miles and six at Navan, and he should be an interesting contender now in open company. Looks like a staying prospect for a top yard, and has won on his first time out previously.

15:10 - Newbury - Stellar Sunrise

Newbury joins the ITV party at 15:10, as a field of seven runners line up in the Group Three Horris Hill Stakes.

Stellar Sunrise should have leading claims for the Andrew Balding yard after stepping up his form on his first attempt over seven furlongs last time out.

The colt stylishly out-classed a field of 18 runners to beat Command The Stars by two lengths, and everything suggests that there is more to come now stepped up in grade.

15:30 - Cheltenham - Give It To Me Oj

The Masterson Holdings Hurdle is due off at 15:30, and it could be challenging to overlook Give It To Me Oj at the top of the betting.

The Gary & Josh Moore yard usually starts the season in solid form, and the selection has been an eye-catching winner on the flat on his last three starts. Most recently, he beat Midnight Rumble by a length at Epsom.

The four-year-old also already has jumps wins to his name, winning three from six starts over obstacles. Ticks plenty of boxes, while others will need to raise their game to get involved.

15:45 - Newbury - Starzintheireyes

Newbury hosts the Group Three St Simon Stakes at 15:45 on Saturday, featuring the return of fan favourite Hamish. However, the William Haggas-trained nine-year-old may be vulnerable against an improving rival.

Starzintheireyes could be a fascinating angle for trainer Ralph Beckett. The three-year-old was three lengths behind Naqeeb on his long-awaited return last month, and should be capable of getting back to his very best, which saw him beat Green Storm by a length in Group Three company at Newmarket in October 2024, on his preferred ground this weekend.

16:05 - Cheltenham - Intense Approach

A potentially informative Novices’ Chase is due off at Cheltenham at 16:05 on Saturday. Intense Approach is a horse that I’ve been following for a while, and there was always hope that he would develop into a high-class staying chaser.

The six-year-old made a perfect start to life over fences at Galway at the start of August, beating Talk In The Park by just under a length.

Held his own in high-quality over hurdles throughout last season, which included a win over three miles at Cheltenham at this meeting. Plenty more to come over fences, and he could be hard to beat.
