The Group Two Royal Lodge Stakes kicks off ITV’s coverage on Saturday. Course specialist Charlie Appleby could have a leading chance in the form of Pacific Avenue, who will be the ride of William Buick.
The two-year-old is clear on ratings, and could be forgiven for his no-show on unsuitable soft ground when fourth of six in the Group Three Solario Stakes. Should come on now up to a mile for the first time.
Haydock is also covered on ITV this weekend, beginning with a tricky handicap over five furlongs.
Blue Storm is an obvious player on his second start after a long layoff. The four-year-old was sixth on his comeback at Haydock earlier this month, but that should have got him back up to speed.
The selection was a winner over course and distance last year, and any rain will be a huge positive this weekend.
Next up is the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes. Fitzella could be a value play for the Hugo Palmer yard, with Oisin Murphy booked to take the ride.
The two-year-old filly was second in Group Two company in France over seven furlongs last time, and the step back to six furlongs is a clear positive.
She was an excellent winner over the trip when landing the Group Three Princess Margaret Stakes in July. Her fourth behind Venetian Sun in the Group Three Albany Stakes looks a very solid form line.
Wise Approach could be very challenging to beat in the big Group One on Saturday, as Charlie Appleby chases successive wins in the Middle Park Stakes.
The two-year-old was a close third behind Venetian Sun in the Group One Prix Morny last time. Prior to that, he was a commanding winner of the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes at Newbury.
Has form tying in with all of the standout juveniles this season, and has lots in hand on RPRs in this field.
Tilted Kilt could be an unexposed runner in the 15:15 at Haydock on Saturday.
The runner for William Knight was an excellent second on his latest effort, beaten just under a length by Special Ghaiyyath at Haydock.
He still looks incredibly well-handicapped on that effort, and he should be capable of a bold bid if there’s no rain for jockey Andrew Mullen.
The big betting race of the day at Newmarket comes in the form of the Cambridgeshire over a mile and one.
Fort George handles the track after winning at Newmarket by an impressive length in May on good ground. His form has stayed strong throughout the season, most recently landing a competitive handicap over a mile and two at Newbury.
Still looks to be ahead of the handicapper, and in-form Oisin Murphy is booked to take the ride.
