York ITV Racing Tips - 21st August 2025

13:50 - York - Staya

A competitive renewal of the Group Two Lowther Stakes kicks off the ITV coverage on Thursday. Staya could prove to be the value in the betting for the George Scott stable.

Callum Shepherd to back aboard, just as he was when the filly got the better of Military Code in the Listed Dragon Stakes over five furlongs at Sandown.

Finished second to a promising sort last time out, but was just a length behind Fitzella on that first start over six furlongs.

Has winning form at York, and bound to come on for that first effort over the trip last time.

14:25 - York - Saffron Dandy

A very competitive handicap featuring 22 runners is due off at 14:25, and Saffron Dandy could be an interesting each-way player for the Richard Hannon team.

The two-year-old broke her maiden stylishly at Bath in early May over five furlongs, beating Eightthreeone by two lengths.

Has since failed to fire in Group Three company in Ireland, but this drop back in grade should be better suited. In-form Clifford Lee is booked to take the ride.

15:00 - York - Sisyphean

The Clipper Handicap over a mile is another competitive race on the card at York on Thursday, but Sisyphean could be a runner that ticks plenty of boxes.

The Kevin Ryan-trained runner has run to great credit at York throughout this season, taking second on both starts over the mile.

Was narrowly beaten a neck by Remmooz over course and distance in July, but has the weights in his favour this week. Best to forgive recent effort at Ascot, and bound to go well at his favoured track.

15:35 - York - Minnie Hauk

The feature on Thursday comes in the form of the Group One Yorkshire Oaks. Minnie Hauk looks challenging to oppose for the Ryan Moore and Aidan O’Brien combination.

The three-year-old has been in excellent form throughout 2025, winning on all three starts, which includes a notable success over Whirl in the Group One Epsom Oaks.

Has since added the Group One Irish Oaks in impressive fashion. Has the advantage based on ratings, and gets 9lb on her market rival. Hard to overlook.

16:10 - York - Lady Vivian

The Listed Galtres Stakes rounds off the ITV coverage from York on Thursday, and Lady Vivian could be an interesting angle for the in-form Ralph Beckett team.

The three-year-old was in fine form over a mile and four earlier this season when landing back-to-back wins at Southwell and Chester.

Things didn’t go to plan in the Group Two Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot when too keen in the early stages. Likely the sort to bounce back, and should be a major player on these terms.

Racing League Newcastle ITV Racing Tips - 21st August 2025

17:45 - Newcastle - Kingdom Of Stars

Racing will be back on air from Newcastle for coverage of the Racing League on Thursday.

Kingdom Of Stars could be an interesting runner now up in trip after finishing a strong third behind Migty Bandit at Ffos Las at the start of the month.

His only victory to date was scored over two miles at Kempton, indicating that he should be well-suited to this test on the all-weather.

18:15 - Newcastle - Ivatt

Ivatt could be a well-treated runner for the in-form Charlie Fellowes stable in the 18:15.

He was an excellent second on his latest effort over a mile and four at Kempton, and this slightly longer trip could be right down his street.

In-form Luke Morris takes the ride for the first time, and a bold showing is likely from a light weight.

18:45 - Newcastle - Mr Mistoffelees

Mr Mistoffelees holds interesting claims for the red-hot Sam England yard in the 18:45.

The selection was narrowly denied at Redcar on his latest effort, finishing under a length behind Paladin over a mile.

Steps back up in trip, which is a plus based on his career-best effort when only a neck behind Flickering Halo over course and distance in May.

19:15 - Newcastle - Al Shabab Storm

Al Shabab Storm could hold an interesting chance based on his recent return effort to the all-weather at Wolverhampton at the end of last month, when he was only beaten a length by Stormy Impact.

The step up to seven furlongs should suit his chances, with his recent record over the distance seeing him finish in the first two on three of his last four efforts.

19:45 - Newcastle - Castan

Castan has shown glimpses of being back to somewhere near his best in recent weeks.

That includes when seventh but only four lengths behind Flourescence over five furlongs at Redcar on August 9.

Returns to the all-weather on Thursday, and has previous winning experience over course and distance at Newcastle. Has a solid strike-rate on the all-weather, and could be an each-way angle.

20:15 - Newcastle - Believe The Storm

In-form Charlie Fellowes saddles Believe The Storm in the 20:15, and the four-year-old could be an interesting angle.

He has finished in the first two on three of his four efforts on the all-weather, and was last seen finishing fourth of eleven at Wolves over an extended mile.

Back on a good mark, and has very little to find on his peak RPRs.

20:45 - Newcastle - Storm Free

Storm Free made a winning return to action at Nottingham in April when beating Dan Tucker by just under a length.

The three-year-old goes well fresh, and it’s normally the time to catch him. Enjoys the all-weather, based on the fact that he has placed on two previous efforts, and he has winning form over six furlongs. Likely to go close if bringing his A-Game on his return.
