Ahead of the January transfer window, over the last couple of weeks we’ve looked at the odds of some of the rumoured transfers. This is the fourth set of transfer odds we’ve looked at so if you would like to see our previous sets, you can find them by clicking on the name of each one. Please note that the odds are correct as of 23/12/19 and are subject to change, and loan moves don’t count.
January Transfer Odds - 23/12/19
Paulo Dybala to Tottenham - 6/1
Paulo Dybala was heavily linked with a move away from Juventus last summer, with both Manchester United and Tottenham being linked with the Argentine attacker. Ahead of the January window, Dybala is once again being linked with a transfer away from Italy and once again it is Tottenham who is the club linked with him. Despite playing the majority of his games as a centre-forward for Juventus this season, Dybala is a flexible player who can play on the right-wing and just behind the striker in a number 10 role, so he is a useful player to have.
Jarrod Bowen to Newcastle - 3/1
For those of you who don’t pay much attention to the Championship, it’s likely that you will have no idea who Jarrod Bowen is, so allow us to enlighten you. In his first 24 games for Hull this season, Bowen has scored 17 goals and recorded 4 assists, that’s more goals than all of Newcastle’s top 4 goalscorers this season combined. With the recent injury of Allan Saint-Maximin on top of Newcastle’s lack of goals this season, it would be wise for Newcastle to bring in attacking reinforcements in January.
Jack Butland to West Ham - 3/1
In the eyes of many West Ham fans, the best player for the Irons this season is goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, with the recent injury of the Polish goalkeeper playing a huge role in West Ham’s current form. Since Fabianski suffered his injury, West Ham have lost 7 out of 10 games and conceded 19 goals in the process. This has led to talks of West Ham being interested in Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland, but to be honest, we don’t think that the signing of Butland would be an improvement from Roberto. In his opening 17 games for Stoke this season, Butland has conceded 29 goals and only kept 3 clean sheets, regardless, Sky Bet are offering 3/1 odds for West Ham to sign him.
Nathan Ake to Manchester City - 8/1
We previously mentioned the rumour that Nathan Ake could return to Stamford Bridge as a Chelsea player during the January transfer window, however, another club who is linked with the Bournemouth defender is Manchester City. There’s no question that Manchester City have struggled as a result of Aymeric Laporte’s injury, so it’s likely that Manchester City could look to bring in defensive reinforcements for the remainder of the season. Since the start of the season, Ake has: kept more clean sheets than Harry Maguire, won more tackles than Virgil van Dijk and made more headed clearances than Toby Alderweireld.
