During Manchester City’s victory over Sheffield United, Kevin De Bruyne once again stole the show after his brilliant through ball set up Sergio Aguero to give City a 1-0 over the Blades.
The assist was historic for De Bruyne as it was his 15th Premier League assist of the season, making him the first player in Premier League history to record 15 or more assists in 3 different Premier League campaigns.
As it stands, Thierry Henry holds the record for most Premier League assists in a single season, when he provided 20 assists during the 02/03 season. De Bruyne looks well on his way to breaking that record and by quite a big margin as well, as he has 14 Premier League games left this season. As it stands, De Bruyne has averaged 0.6 assists per game in the Premier League this season, if he matches that form for the remainder of the season, he will register 9 more assists, putting him on 24 assist for the season.
It’s no secret that De Bruyne has frequently suffered injuries throughout his Manchester City career so far, but if he can prevent history from repeating itself, he will break another Premier League record.
