Man City take on Brentford in the EFL Cup quarterfinals, as they look to win this competition for the 9th time.
Pep Guardiola’s side come into the game with strong attacking momentum, having been involved in high-scoring league matches and staying close to the top of the table. Erling Haaland and Phil Foden have carried much of the goal threat in recent weeks, but the competition and the timing in the calendar suggest some rotation around that core.
Brentford, now under Keith Andrews, have had a more uneven league campaign and are using the cup alongside the festive programme to spread opportunities across the squad. There is some injury management to consider, so selection is likely to balance regular starters with those on the fringes.
