The 2026/27 League One campaign is fast approaching and the lineup is one of the most exciting in recent memory. The division contains huge hitters such as Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester City, while seasoned EFL sides like Stockport and Barnsley will make for a hugely interesting campaign.
With the campaign due to start on the 15th of August, we have some outright tips for this season's competition.
Leicester City
After a shock relegation last season, the Foxes are aiming to immediately return to the Championship as they gear up for their first campaign in England's third tier since 2008-09.
They've appointed Russell Martin as manager, who may draw ridicule from many corners of the footballing fanbase, but Martin has proven his worth when it comes to the EFL and is a seasoned manager at this level.
In terms of quality in the squad, players like Harry Souttar, Conor Chaplin and Stephy Mavididi provide a level of quality few other sides in the division can match, while youngsters such as Ben Nelson, Louis Page and Will Alves will hope to have a major impact.
Given Martin's record with young players, it feels like an appropriate appointment for the construction of the squad.
The Foxes are the firm favourites to win the league title this season, and that tag is certainly justified.
Plymouth Argyle
Plymouth were unlucky to miss out on the play-offs last season and were ultimately handicapped by a poor start to the campaign, where they lost five of their first six games.
At the back end of the campaign, Plymouth were in excellent form, losing just two of their last 16 games, winning 11 of those.
Plymouth have lost striker Lorent Tolaj to Bristol City, but they've also made some shrewd signings in midfielder Harvey White and centre-back Wes Harding, both of whom are proven EFL performers.
They'll no doubt splash some of the circa £4m they received for Tolaj on a striker of their own, and in Tom Cleverley they have one of the better young managers in the country.
