Bradford, Salford & Stockport County each to score 70+ league goals: 13/2

Stockport County scored goals for fun last season in the division below, with them hitting 87 goals on their way to the league title. The way they dominated the National League season has made them favourites for a back-to-back promotion.

Meanwhile, Salford and Bradford both disappointed last campaign despite having experienced managers at the helm. They have both opted for a change with Manchester United’s U23’s manager, Neil Wood taking the Salford role whilst the vastly experienced Mark Hughes has taken over at Valley Parade. Both coaches are known for employing an attacking style of play and we expect to see more goals flowing from these sides next season.

AFC Wimbledon, Bradford, Northampton & Stockport County to finish in top 7: 28/1

Wimbledon are another team who have rolled the dice and have appointed Johnnie Jackson as their new manager. Jackson was harshly sacked as Charlton's manager this summer and he will be eager to prove his former team wrong.

They have quickly acquitted themselves in the transfer market by bringing in experienced pros in Chris Gunter and Alex Pearce to bring some much-needed experience to the squad.

Meanwhile, Northampton were unbelievably unlucky to miss out on promotion last season as Bristol Rovers pipped them on the final day by winning 7-0 against Scunthorpe United. They’ve been very active in the transfer market so far as they’ve brought in Luton striker Danny Hylton, Sunderland goalkeeper Lee Burge, Newport’s attacking wing-back Ryan Haynes and Swindon’s first-choice defender Akin Odimayo amongst others.

Bradford & Northampton to be promoted & Leyton Orient, Mansfield & Swindon to finish in top half: 50/1

Richie Wellens has a good record in England's basement division and he will be hoping to replicate his good work at Swindon, with Leyton Orient this year. The signings of George Moncur and Theo Archibald are typical of the players Wellens likes to use and he will be keen to build his attacking approach around his young squad.

The second half of the season for Mansfield was incredible last year as they rose from the depths of a relegation fight to 90 minutes from securing promotion in a play-off final. It is likely that the Stags will carry on their 2022 momentum into the new season.

Lastly, there has been change in the dugout for Swindon Town as assistant manager Scott Lindsey has taken over from Ben Garner who has departed for Charlton Athletic.

The Robins have been keen to carry on their strategy to build a young squad with Cian Harries, Reece Devine, Tyrese Shade and Ciaran Brennan just a few of the signings the Reds have made, with the average age of the incomings being just 21 years old.

Bradford to finish in top 3, Grimsby and Northampton to finish in top 7 & Hartlepool and Sutton to finish in bottom half: 66/1

Mark Hughes has used his contacts well to being in some quality this summer as the Bantams look to charge towards promotion. Richie Smallwood is the pick of the bunch as he joins from Hull City whilst Jamie Walker, Harry Chapman and Emmanuel Osadebe provide a multitude of quality.

A team promoted from the fifth division has never been relegated at the first time of asking in the fourth division and it isn’t unusual to see a recently promoted side challenging at the top end of the league. With the impressive signings of Anthony Driscoll-Glennon, Niall Maher and Otis Khan - Grimsby Town will be hoping for another play-off finish.

Meanwhile, the honeymoon period may be over for Sutton United who have lost some of their key players in the window, with Dean Bouzanis, Richie Bennett and David Ajiboye all moving on.

Whilst it’s another new manager for Pool with Paul Hartley joining from Scottish side, Cove Rangers. Hartley has five promotions on his CV with Cove, Dundee and Alloa Athletic but there may be doubts about his ability to work in the EFL.

Stockport County to be promoted, Tranmere to finish in top 7 & Hartlepool and Rochdale to finish in bottom half: 12/1

Tranmere Rovers will have been incredibly disappointed to miss out on promotion last season as they looked set for League One at the halfway stage. However, Micky Mellon has been trusted with the keys of Prenton Park and he has looked at bringing the average age of the squad down.

Youngsters Ethan Bristow and Reece McAlear have joined from Reading and Norwich whilst Ross Doohan has joined on a permanent transfer from Celtic.

Meanwhile, Rochdale have had the task of replacing some quality departing players as Corey O’Keefe, Conor Grant, Max Clark and Eoghan O’Connell have all secured moves elsewhere. However, despite being 35 years old, Toumani Diagouraga looks like an astute signing to bring some experience and fight to a midfield lacking the combative nature to succeed in the lower leagues.

Richard O’Donnell has been trusted with the number one spot, whilst Ethan Ebanks Landell and Cameron John are expected to improve Dale’s defensive record of 59 goals conceded last season. Devante Rodney has joined from Walsall too with Stockdale hoping to get the best out of the 24-year-old.
