              Fleetwood Town vs Grimsby Prediction

Fleetwood Town have a very good record in this fixture in recent years, winning all five of the last five meetings with Grimsby. The Fishermen have been on form with their scoring, being the first team on the scoresheet in seven of their last eight games.

New signing Mark Helm will be one to watch this weekend as last season at Burton Albion he had eight goal contributions as well as averaging 1.3 shots a game. Danny Rose was a bright spot for Grimsby last season, scoring 13 goals last season with 0.8 shots on target a game making these two potentials for a goal or two shots on target.

Fleetwood’s Zach Medley conceded 0.9 fouls a game last season and Harvey Rodgers received seven yellow cards making them likely candidates to pick up a yellow card or at least two fouls.

Fleetwood Town vs Grimsby Preview & Prediction

Grimsby Town make the trip to Highbury this Saturday to take on Fleetwood Town in their first game of the League Two season. Fleetwood are new to League Two and will be looking to kick off their promotion effort with a win.

              Date: 10/08/2023

              Kickoff time: 15:00

              Location: Highbury Stadium

After their relegation from League One, Fleetwood will look to assert their dominance in the fourth tier with a big win over Grimsby who only stayed in League Two by a couple of points.

Fleetwood finished 22nd in League Two after 46 games. In those 46 games, Fleetwood picked up just ten wins, 13 draws and 23 losses which left them on 43 points, three points from safety.

Charlie Adam has been busy in the transfer window this summer. Zech Medley, Matty Virtue, MacKenzie Hunt and Luke Hewitson made their way to Fleetwood on a transfer. However, the likes of Harvey Macadam, Maleace Asamoah, Stephen McMullan and Barry Baggley return after the end of their loans.

Grimsby finished 21st in League Two last season. In 46 games, The Mariners picked up 11 wins, 16 draws and 19 losses which left them on 49 points and seven points above the relegation zone.

David Artell has also brought in a number of reinforcements this season. George McEachran, Lewis Cass, Tyrell Warren, Matty Carson, Cameron McJannett, Jason Dadi Svanthorsson and Jordan Wright among the new names at Grimsby.

Fleetwood and Grimsby have met five times in their histories, with the first meeting coming as recently as 2010. Fleetwood massively dominate this fixture, picking up five wins in five games.

In fact, Fleetwood are so dominant in this fixture that Grimsby have only managed to score against The Fishermen twice, with the last time they found the back of Fleetwood’s net was back in 2012. This fixture is also a low scoring one, with the biggest scoreline being a 3 - 0 win back in 2011.
