League Two Top Goalscorer Odds

Mark Hughes

Paddy Madden Odds: 8/1

Stockport County’s Paddy Madden is the bookmakers’ favourite to win the League Two Golden Boot.

The 32-year-old Irishman managed to score 23 goals in 43 National League matches for County last season and interestingly, hasn’t played a League Two match since the 2013/14 season with Scunthorpe United having made the drop from League One side Fleetwood Town to Stockport in March 2021.

Having scored 15 goals in back-to-back League One seasons for Fleetwood Town (2018/19 & 2019/20) before his move to Edgeley Park, surely Madden will carry on his excellent goalscoring form for his current side this season.

Dominic Telford Odds: 11/1

Dominic Telford comes into the 2022/23 season off the back of a very impressive 2021/22 campaign.

The Burnley-born striker scored 25 goals and created three assists in just 37 league games for Newport County last season, but, has since joined Crawley Town on a three-year contract.

Last season was by far Telford’s best in his career at the age of 25, as his best goal tally in a league campaign prior to this was in 2018/19 with Bury, when he scored six goals in 38 appearances.

Harry McKirdy Odds: 12/1

Swindon Town’s Harry McKirdy will be looking to impress once again having 19 goals in 35 matches in his debut season for the Robins.

The 25-year-old who started his career at Aston Villa had by far his best goalscoring season, with his previous best being the five goals he scored at Carlisle United in 28 appearances during the 2019/20 campaign.

Swindon were the top scorers in League Two last season with 77 goals and if they continue to produce their positive attacking style, then there is no reason why McKirdy can’t have another successful season at the County Ground.

Danny Hylton Odds: 14/1

In the summer, Northampton Town managed to get a coup by signing 33-year-old former Luton Town striker Danny Hylton on a free transfer.

Hylton is a cult hero at Kenilworth Road having scored 54 goals in 147 league matches for the Hatters, however, it must be said that the majority of his goals came in his two League Two campaigns for the club, scoring 21 goals in 2016/17 and 2017/18.

Having missed out on automatic promotion on the last day of last season via Bristol Rovers' 7-0 win over Scunthorpe United, Northampton will be desperate to get over the line this time and seal promotion with Hylton as their main man.

Vadaine Oliver Odds: 16/1

The final player on this list comes in the shape of Vadaine Oliver who recently left Gillingham to join Mark Hughes’ revolution at Bradford City.

Oliver, who is actually from Sheffield himself was a decent source of goals for Gillingham in his two campaigns at Priestfield, scoring 17 in League One during the 2020/21 season, as well as 10 in 39 matches last time out.

Having shown his capabilities in one division higher than what the Bantams ply their trade in, they will hope that Oliver can be the man to score them the goals that will see them back in League One for the first time since the 2019/20 season.
