On Thursday night, Liverpool host Leicester City at Anfield in a battle of second against 10th in the Premier League standings.

This will be the third time that these two sides have met this campaign, with Liverpool coming out on top in the initial meeting in the Carabao Cup on penalties, following a 3-3 draw at Anfield, whilst Leicester City won the Premier League fixture 1-0 at the King Power Stadium thanks to an Ademola Lookman strike.

Thursday’s other Premier League match sees eight-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers host sixth in the table Arsenal at Molineux, with Bruno Lage’s men currently just two points behind the Gunners.

Before their recent 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Norwich City at the weekend, Wolves had been in good form, having beaten the likes of Brentford 2-1 Southampton 3-1, Sheffield United 3-0 and Manchester United 1-0.

Wolves are typically low scorers, having managed just 19 goals in 21 league matches, the third-lowest tally of any side, with Raul Jimenez currently lying as their top scorer with just four goals.

A player who will be vital to the Molineux’s chances against Arsenal is Ruben Neves, with the Portuguese midfielder being known for his high quality passing range, as well as his goalscoring capabilities. So far this campaign, the 24-year-old former FC Porto man has scored two goals and created one assist in 22 matches, with both of his strikes coming from outside the penalty area, most recently, in his side’s 2-1 win at Brentford.

Arsenal come into this match without a win in their last five outings and Mikel Arteta will be thinking that a win must surely be around the corner for the Gunners.

The Spaniard's side are ahead of Wolves in the standings having scored 14 more times than the Molineux club and will hope that this firepower can help them on their way to what would be a vital win in the battle for top four as they look to keep up with the likes of United and Tottenham.

A player that will be vital towards any chances that Arsenal have is Alexandre Lacazette, especially considering the fact that the Gunners allowed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to leave to join Barcelona in the January transfer window.

Lacazette has just one goal against Wolves in six appearances, doing so in the Gunners last victory over the Molineux club back in July 2020 when they beat them 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium. The 30-year-old has scored five goals and created four assists in 22 matches across all competitions so far this campaign.
