Low Odds, High Odds: UCL Quarter-Finals - 13/4/22

On Wednesday night, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City go head to head at the Wanda Metropolitano in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Cityzens currently hold a 1-0 advantage thanks to Kevin De Bruyne’s second-half strike last week which was the opening goal of the game, a feat the advanced playmaker also managed in the Sky Blues’ 2-2 draw at home to title rivals Liverpool on the weekend.

So far this season, the 30-year-old has fired in 14 goals across all competitions, also opening the scoring against the likes of Manchester United and Burnley, meaning that he has managed to do so in three of his last four league matches.

The second leg of this tie offers to be an entertaining match, with Atletico firmly in the tie despite their one-goal deficit, but, needing to outscore City to go through.

City will expect to win the game via possession and skill combined with creativity on the ball as they did in their home leg, with there being a burden on Both Teams to Score as Pep Guardiola’s men will want to seal their place in the semi-finals, whilst Diego Simeone’s side simply have to score to stand a chance.

This should be a slightly more even clash at the Wanda Metropolitano due to the nature of the tie, which saw City have 68% of the ball and nine corners to Atletico’s nil. Against Manchester United, Atleti managed to have eight corners in what was an aggressive and dominant display in their 1-1 home draw with the Red Devils.

Liverpool host Benfica at Anfield on Wednesday night with a 3-1 lead from the first leg in Portugal, thanks to goals by Ibrahima Konate, Sadio Mane, and Luis Diaz.

A player that has been in superb form this season is English right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, hence why the 23-year-old has managed 18 assists across all competitions this season, including Diogo Jota’s early equaliser at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Alexander-Arnold is priced at 15/8 to get his 19th assist of the 2021/22 season on Wednesday.

Two players that will be hoping to impress once again on Wednesday night are Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

Since moving from Hoffenheim to Liverpool, Firmino has managed 96 goals and 73 assists in 321 matches. So far this season, the 30-year-old Brazilian forward has a decent record in the Champions League, scoring three goals in five appearances, including his side’s opener in their 2-0 victory against Inter Milan at the San Siro.

Salah is regarded by some as the best player on the planet at present and it is easy to see why, as the Egyptian has been in red hot form this season, firing in eight goals in nine Champions League matches, taking his tally to 28 in all competitions this season, having also created 11 assists.
