Next Celtic Manager Odds

Steve Clarke Kilmarnock

Neil Lennon resigns

Celtic's abysmal 2020/21 has been capped off with their legendary manager Neil Lennon resigning just three games out from when Rangers can potentially win the SPFL title for the first time in nearly a decade.

What made matters worse for the Northern Irishman is how far behind Rangers they are and just how their neighbours can potentially lift the title at Celtic Park in three games time.

It seems that Lennon didn't want anything to do with that, and as a result, he and the club have called it quits for the second time together.

We take a look at the latest Celtic manager odds

John Kennedy Celtic Odds

The favourite to become the next manager of Celtic after Lennon is current assistant manager John Kennedy. Kennedy was formerly a Celtic academy player who then progressed through the reserves to become a player for their first team, making just 30 league appearances.

Although an injury ended his career early at 26, the Scotsman continued to work at the club by first starting as a scout before becoming assistant manager at many levels.

The easiest way to replace Lennon would be to hire Kennedy, who knows the club very well because of his time there. However, more than likely, Celtic would rather choose to sign a much more experienced candidate who can quickly bring them back to the top of the table.

As of now, John Kennedy odds of becoming the next permanent manager of Celtic are priced at 6/4.

Eddie Howe to Celtic Odds

In August 2020, Eddie Howe departed Bournemouth with mutual consent after the club was relegated from the Premier League and Howe wanted to spend time away from the sport.

The English manager helped them gain the promotion to the Premier League in the 2014/15 season and then reach the highest league finish of ninth in their second campaign in the top flight. Since his departure, Howe has not had any managerial work, choosing to spend this free time with his family and no doubt, clubs across the UK are seeking his signature.

The ex-Cherries boss remains one of the brightest younger managers in the UK and the Englishman even remains on the bookmakers' list to become the next England manager.

Currently, though, Eddie Howe to become the next Celtic manager is priced at odds of 9/4.

Frank Lampard

Since the sacking of Frank Lampard at Chelsea earlier in this season, the Englishman has been linked to many clubs throughout England and Celtic. The ex-Blues man was relieved of his duties as the west London outfit fell out of the top four race and as Lampard's summer signings failed to impress at all.

However, with regards to young managers on the scene, it doesn't really get much better than Lampard and his efforts at Derby showed that he is certainly a coach who can have a future in the game. After being sacked by the club he adores so much, heading up to Scotland to rival Rangers with Celtic might be the perfect place to start, however, the criteria is the same with the Hoops as it is with Chelsea: win the title or you're out.

After Lennon resigned, Lampard to join Celtic is 5/1.

Rafael Benítez

Rafael Benitez has managed in four different countries over his illustrious managerial career, most recently winning the EFL Championship with Newcastle United, which was his first league title since winning La Liga in 2004.

The Spaniard was most recently at Dalian Professional in China after leaving Newcastle. It's clear that Benitez's move to China was about the money, but now he has departed Dalian, he remains available to move to a job where silverware is more the aim. Benitez's departure from the North East was also not a positive with one with the ex-Chelsea man claiming Mike Ashley is "a businessman who I don’t believe really cares about his team."

Now, 16 years after winning the Champions League with Liverpool, he is 10/1 to join Celtic and rival his ex-player, Steven Gerrard.

Steve Clarke Celtic Odds

The current Scotland manager, Steve Clarke, could be the next manager to replace Lennon at Celtic. In his managerial career, Clarke has been the assistant manager for numerous big managers at top clubs.

In his time at Chelsea, he worked under Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant and Luiz Felipe Scolari before joining West Ham United to become the assistant for Gianfranco Zola.

Then he worked under Rafa Benitez, Roy Hodgson and Sir Kenny Dalglish at Liverpool. Then, only at West Bromwich Albion, Reading and Kilmarnock was Clarke a manager of a football club before he became Scotland manager in 2019, having been an assistant throughout his career.

However, because of his time around Scottish football, he may have some expertise on how to coach a Premiership side, however, due to his fairly recent appointment as Scotland manager and how he will be heading to Euro 2021 with his nation, it's pretty much guaranteed that he will not be taking this job.

Steve Clarke is now priced at odds of 10/1 to become the next Celtic manager.

Gordon Strachan Celtic odds

Another manager who could replace Lennon is the former Scotland manager, Gordon Strachan, who has was formerly one of the favourites to take the helm at Celtic Park. From 2013 to 2017, Strachan was the manager of the Scottish national team until he left via mutual consent after failing to reach a major tournament.

Currently, Strachan is a technical director at Dundee United which he started in July 2019, although he has been the manager of Celtic before when took charge of 172 games for the club between 2005 and 2009.

In this time he won six major honours at the club, of which three were the Scottish Premiership title, and, with his son now the assistant manager at Celtic, it could be a reunion for Strachan to come back and manage a club he was successful at.

However, time will tell if this one goes through, but Strachan remains the favourite to take the wheel at with the Scottish giants at 25/1.

Paul Lambert Celtic Odds

Another manager who would be a good candidate to take over as Celtic manager is Ipswich Town manager, Paul Lambert. Lambert spent a large part of his playing career at Celtic and was very successful.

n his time at the club, he won four Scottish Premier League titles, two Scottish Cups, two Scottish League Cups as well as captaining his side to a UEFA Cup final in 2003 before losing to Mourinho’s Porto. In his managerial time, Lambert has coached numerous English sides including Norwich City and Aston Villa.

In total, he has spent 15 years as a manager, including three years as a player-coach at the start of his journey. The Scottish manager would be an excellent choice of manager and most likely jump at the chance to manage his former club.

Although, currently he is competing for promotion in League One with Ipswich and may be reluctant to leave. As of now, Paul Lambert is priced at 33/1 odds of becoming the next permanent Celtic manager.

Henrik Larsson Celtic Odds

One candidate who would be widely accepted by the Hoops fans is a club legend, Henrik Larsson. After he retired from football in 2009, Larsson quickly moved into management as he became the coach at Landskrona in 2010.

For the next nine years, the Swedish striker became manager of two Sweden sides of Falkenberg and Helsingborg as well as becoming an assistant manager of Hogaborg. Now, the former Celtic striker is the assistant manager of Ronald Koeman at Barcelona.

A return to Celtic could see the Swedish footballer gain more experience with club football, however, he may not be so quick to move. As well as this, his ability to be a manager is not as strong as other candidates and, therefore, could be passed over. Currently, Henrik Larsson is priced at odds of 33/1 to become the next permanent Celtic manager.
