Celtic are on the lookout for a new manager following reports that Ange Postecoglu is on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur in the aftermath of the Hoops’ completion of the Scottish domestic treble during the 2022/23 campaign.

Postecoglu will be a tough act to follow at Celtic Park, having won five trophies in two seasons at the club, winning two Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish League Cups and one Scottish Cup. During his time at Celtic, the 57-year-old oversaw 113 matches, winning 83 and drawing 12 of them, equating to a 74% win percentage.

Brendan Rodgers Odds: 9/4

Former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly in the frame following his sacking by Leicester City late on in the 2022/23 season.

Rodgers left the Hoops in acrimonious circumstances to join the Foxes, but, there is no doubt that the 50-year-old did a good job at Celtic, winning the domestic treble in both of his first two seasons in charge (2016/17 and 2017/18), as well as a League Cup in 2018/19, meaning that he won every competition that he completed at the club.

On top of this, Rodgers also showed his capability at Leicester, winning the Foxes their first-ever FA Cup in 2020/21 and the Community Shield in the following season after back-to-back fifth-placed finishes in the Premier League.

With the Northern Irishman currently being out of work and requiring no compensation fee, perhaps this will appeal to Celtic’s board.

Jesse Marsch Odds: 3/1

Ex-Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch is also in the running for the job at Celtic Park, having previously shown his capabilities in a similar standard league with Red Bull Salzburg.

Marsch managed to win both the Austrian Bundesliga and Austrian Cup in 2019/20 and 2020/21 when he was at Salzburg, after previously winning the Supporters Shield in two of his three seasons with New York Red Bulls between 2015 and 2018.

Since his time in Austria, Marsch has struggled to make his mark though, having lost his job at both Red Bull Salzburg and Leeds United, although he is often credited with helping the Elland Road club survive relegation in the 2021/22 season.

John Kennedy Odds: 9/1

Former Celtic centre-back John Kennedy is in the running to replace Postecoglu at Celtic Park, having worked his way up to becoming the club’s assistant manager.

The 39-year-old previously had a spell as a caretaker between February 2021 and May 2021, winning four and drawing four of his ten matches in charge of the club. Could Kennedy be about to step up to the job as Celtic manager for the 2023/24 season?

Enzo Maresca Odds: 11/1

Manchester City’s assistant manager, Enzo Maresca, has been linked with the vacancy at Celtic.

Marseca has had a lot of experience as an assistant manager, having done this job at the likes of Ascoli, Sevilla, West Ham United and City, however, his managerial career is yet to show promise.

The 43-year-old’s only managerial role came in the 2021/22 season when he took over at Serie B outfit, Parma, however, this didn’t go particularly well as the Italian was sacked after just 14 matches in charge, following four wins and five draws in 14 matches. Perhaps his recent experiences of working alongside Pep Guardiola will have helped to enhance and adjust his tactics for future roles.

David Moyes Odds: 12/1

West Ham United manager David Moyes has been under pressure from the West Ham faithful all season, despite the fact that the 60-year-old Glaswegian has done a good job at the London Stadium.

When Moyes took over at West Ham, they were fighting against relegation due to Manuel Pellegrini’s disastrous spell in charge of the club and have since managed to qualify for European competitions in back-to-back seasons.

This season has been a tricky campaign for the Irons, however, despite their 14th-placed finish in the Premier League, they have managed to reach the Europa Conference League final, meaning that not only could they add a European trophy - they will have qualified for European competitions in each of their last three seasons if they emerge victorious against Fiorentina.

Moyes started off his footballing career at Celtic and is priced at 12/1 to return to the club, with rumours circulating that he may quit West Ham at the end of the season.

Martin O’Neill Odds: 14/1

Legendary Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has made the list of contenders for the job, despite not managing a club side since being sacked as Nottingham Forest manager in 2019.

The 71-year-old is a much-loved figure at Celtic Park, having broken up Rangers’ dominance of the Scottish Premiership by winning them a domestic treble during the 2000/2001 season. During his five-year spell at Celtic, O’Neill won seven major honours, while guiding them to the final of the 2002/03 UEFA Cup where they were beaten by FC Porto.

Steve Clarke Odds: 14/1

Current Scotland manager Steve Clarke is priced at 10/1 to be Celtic’s next manager.

Clarke has been a superb appointment for Scotland, having managed to lead them to Euro 2020, while having a lightning start to Euro 2024’s qualifiers, having seen his side beat Cyprus and Spain.

The 59-year-old has also demonstrated his managerial qualities in Scotland with his boyhood club, Kilmarnock, leading them to fifth and third-place finishes in the Scottish Premiership between October 2017 and May 2019.

Scott Brown Odds: 16/1

Ex-Celtic captain Scott Brown is also in the frame, having done a decent job at League One outfit Fleetwood Town.

The 37-year-old made a total of 407 league appearances for the Hoops between 2007 and 2021 and managed to consolidate Fleetwood’s position in English football’s third tier with a 13th-placed finish, having won 14 and drawn 16 of 46 matches.

Having had the experience of winning 22 trophies with Celtic, could Brown step up to be the club’s next manager after Postecoglu?
