Manchester City to win
Manchester City have picked up three wins from their opening six outings in the Premier League and Champions League this season. Pep Guardiola's side have won two of their three matches played at the Etihad Stadium so far this season, and have managed to keep three clean sheets in their opening six matches across all competitions.
Burnley have suffered three defeats in their opening five league games since returning to England's top flight this season.
QPR to win
Sheffield Wednesday’s recent win against Portsmouth (0-2), ended a horrible spell for the Owls in which they had not recorded a league victory since April of last season. Still, their league standing this season has them in 23rd, four points clear of local rivals, Sheffield United and a visit from an in-form Queens Park Rangers side is unlikely to change that.
QPR could be seen as one of the surprise packages this season, as the visitors for this game are in ninth after six matches played and in a good run of form as well. QPR have won their last three matches, beating Stoke City (1-0), Wrexham (1-3) and Charlton Athletic (3-1).
Middlesbrough to win
The Saints are coming into this game on the back of a spirited display against Liverpool in midweek but have now gone four games without a win in all competitions. The home side have been without a win in their last three league games, following two draws against Watford (2-2), Portsmouth (0-0) and a loss against Hull City (3-1).
Rob Edwards’ side have won five of their first six league fixtures, scoring 11 and only conceding four. The visitors beat West Bromwich Albion (2-1) last time out and have recorded victories against Norwich City (1-2) and Millwall (0-3) more notably this season.
Bradford to win.
The Bantams are top of the league after nine matches, having amassed 20 points from a possible 27 available. Their home form, in particular, has been pivotal to the success of Graham Alexander’s side as the last home defeat they suffered in league competition was against Tranmere Rovers back in March.
Blackpool’s form has been inconsistent, as despite two wins in their last two in all competitions, the Tangerines have lost three of their previous five matches in the league, with defeats against Northampton Town (1-0), Plymouth Argyle (1-0) and Mansfield Town (2-0).
Stockport to win
Despite being in indifferent form, Stockport County have been strong at home again this season. The Hatters have only lost once at home this season, in four matches, with two wins. In the two meetings last season, Stockport County dominated their opponents, securing 1-3 and 4-1 victories in both league matches.
Reading are in 20th place in the league this season, and their away form has been less than desirable, with only two points picked up from four matches on the road. The visitors are coming into this game without a clean sheet in their last four games.
Cardiff to win
Following their 2-0 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers in the Carabao Cup, the home side has now lost two straight matches, as their last league match saw them suffer a humiliating defeat against Bolton Wanderers.
The Bluebirds have been brilliant in the league, with their 3-1 defeat against Bradford City their only blemish on what has been a great campaign for Brian Barry-Murphy’s side. The away side have won five, drawn twice and lost only once so far in the league this season.
Grimsby to win
Grimsby Town have been performing exceptionally this season, as the Mariners are sixth in League Two, and they have a fourth-round Carabao Cup tie against Premier League side Brentford on the horizon. Grimsby Town have won two of their last four home games in League Two, with wins against Crawley Town (3-0) and Newport County (2-1).
Cheltenham Town are at the bottom of the football league, with only one win and 17 goals conceded in nine matches. The away side have lost seven of their last nine league games and have not beaten Grimsby Town in the last six meetings between the two sides.
Chesterfield to win
Chesterfield may be in a poor run of form, but their record of three straight victories against Newport County gives them the advantage against the visitors. The home side still occupies a spot inside the top six of League Two, despite a run of three draws and a loss in the league.
Newport County are on a winless run of nine matches and are 22nd in the league with one win, two draws and six losses from nine league games.
