Our EFL Goalscorer Tips to Watch This Weekend - 5/3/22

First meets fourth in the Championship this weekend as Fulham welcome Blackburn Rovers to Craven Cottage.

The hosts are in fine form, winning four of their past five games and in being nine points clear at the top, look set for a return to the Premier League.

Visitors Blackburn looked to be making a push for the automatic promotion spots, however, have slowed down recently losing three of the past five. Fulham and Blackburn home the division’s two top scorers in Alexander Mitrovic and Ben Brereton-Diaz, scoring 34 and 20 goals respectively, with the Serbian already breaking Ivan Toney’s record of 32 Championship goals in one season despite having 13 remaining matches.

Mitrovic has been superb lately, scoring six in five and will fancy himself to get on the scoresheet this weekend against an out-of-form Blackburn team. We expect the former Newcastle United man to be amongst the action, with our tip Mitrovic to score 2+ goals priced at 16/5.

Bradford City plays host to Swindon Town this weekend as the home side looks to put an end to their recent torrid run.

Mark Hughes’ side has lost four on the bounce, failing to score on three occasions leaving them 15th heading into this one.

In contrast, visitors Swindon have won three and lost two of their past five, keeping three consecutive clean sheets in this time against Scunthorpe, Carlisle, and Walsall whilst winning the games 3-0, 3-0, and 5-0 respectively. Forward Harry McKirdy has been clinical recently, scoring three in his last four games taking his tally to 14 for the season.

Interestingly, McKirdy has scored first in three of his last four appearances, and we back the Englishman to do so again this weekend, priced at 11/2 to score first.

Two sides gunning for a play-off spot come head-to-head this weekend as Newport County host Bristol Rovers at Rodney Parade.

The home side is in okay form, winning once, drawing three times, and losing once in their past five having made the scoresheet on all but one occasion.

Bristol Rovers are one of League 2’s form sides, winning four of their past five games which could spark a late run to the play-off positions. During their recent good run, club top scorer Antony Evans has scored twice in his last three and looks to be finding some consistency. For the visitors, league top scorer Dom Telford has also shown fine goalscoring prowess recently, with the Englishman scoring four in four.

Our tip for this match is for in-form forward, Telford to score two or more goals at 4/1.

Sunderland faces a long trip south this weekend as they travel to London to play a dismal Charlton Athletic side.

The Addick’s are in atrocious form, losing their past five and last winning in early February against AFC Wimbledon. Defensively, Johnnie Jackson’s side has struggled lately, conceding 13 times in five matches whilst only finding the net twice themselves.

Sunderland are in slightly better form, with new boss Alex Neil starting to make his mark as the Black Cats beat league leaders Wigan Athletic 3-0 on the road last time out. League top scorer Ross Stewart has been clinical of late, with the forward scoring in his last three matches against Wigan, Burton Albion, and MK Dons.

Given the recent leaky defence of Charlton and the goal-scoring ability of Stewart, we expect the Englishman to have a fruitful afternoon, priced at 21/20 to score anytime.

Bolton Wanderers travel to the Priestfield Stadium to face a relegation-threatened Gillingham Town outfit this weekend.

The home side has won two, drawn two, and lost one in their last five so come into this one in decent form, however with just 30 points this season, find themselves tied to the relegation zone.

Visitors Bolton have won three from their past five but, may struggle to push for a play-off place following poor form pre-January. Ian Evatt’s side has been prolific in front of goal since the turn of the year, scoring in 11 straight games, last failing to find the net at home to Wycombe Wanderers in early January.

Forward Amadou Bakayoko has been a recent source of late goals for the Wanderers, as the Sierra Leone striker has scored three times past the 85th minute in his last five appearances, scoring the latest match goal on each occasion. Given his recent run, we back Bakayoko to continue his trend, priced at 15/2 to score last.
