Last season's winner of the PFA Player of the Year award, Kevin De Bruyne, has dropped down from the favourite to win this trophy and down to third.
The Manchester City star won the award for his outstanding performances last campaign, a year after Mohamed Salah snatched the award when he was favourite throughout much of that year. Last season, however, he equalled the Premier League record for the most assists in a single season with 20.
This was first set by Arsenal striker Thierry Henry, back in 2002/03. So far this season, the Belgium midfielder’s impact has not been as great as previous matches, as City sit outside the top four at the New Year, whilst De Bruyne is clearly struggling more so without Sergio Aguero and David Silva. However, with his exceptional talent it would be no surprise if these numbers were to soon change. As of now, Kevin De Bruyne’s odds of retaining the PFA POTY award for 2021 are priced at 7/1.
