PFA Player of the Year Odds as Fernandes Moves to 2nd Favourite Heading Into 2021

Latest News

Kevin De Bruyne PFA Player of the Year Odds

Last season's winner of the PFA Player of the Year award, Kevin De Bruyne, has dropped down from the favourite to win this trophy and down to third.

The Manchester City star won the award for his outstanding performances last campaign, a year after Mohamed Salah snatched the award when he was favourite throughout much of that year. Last season, however, he equalled the Premier League record for the most assists in a single season with 20.

This was first set by Arsenal striker Thierry Henry, back in 2002/03. So far this season, the Belgium midfielder’s impact has not been as great as previous matches, as City sit outside the top four at the New Year, whilst De Bruyne is clearly struggling more so without Sergio Aguero and David Silva. However, with his exceptional talent it would be no surprise if these numbers were to soon change. As of now, Kevin De Bruyne’s odds of retaining the PFA POTY award for 2021 are priced at 7/1.

Harry Kane PFA Player of the Year Odds

Harry Kane has returned to his very best and then some this season under manager Jose Mourinho. This has been a year for stat building for sure with Kane, as he has an extraordinary 16 goals and 13 assists in all competitions - no Premier League player has been involved in more goals across the board than him.

As of now, Kane leads the way as the favourite for the PFA Player of the Year at 7/2, and if he continues to play this false nine role and constantly supply goals for the likes of Son Heung-min and even score some himself.

Ahead of the January fixtures, the England captain boasts of 10 Premier League assists in 15 games and nine goals as well. If this ratio of assists to games continues, undoubtedly he will smash the record set by Henry and matched by De Bruyne last season.

At 7/2, Kane remains the favourite and as long as the Spurs superstar continues this sensational form and rise up the assists and goals charts, there will only be one winner.

Bruno Fernandes PFA Player of the Year Odds

Bruno Fernandes is another player who could be named in the running for the PFA Player of the Year award 2021 after what has been one of the best calendar years from a Premier League player in recent times.

Since he arrived at Manchester United, he has taken the league by storm as well as improving the club’s performances significantly and even getting them into the title equation. In fact, since he joined the Red Devils, Fernandes has bagged himself 26 goals and registered 17 assists in just 43 games, with 10 of those goals coming in the league this year, just as he has provided seven assists in the top flight in 2020/21 too.

Right now, Fernandes is arguably the most influential player in the league and perhaps on the continent and he is unquestionably the main reason United are competing for the title as we head into 2021.

The Portuguese superstar is a dark hose in this race and he can be backed at 4/1.

Bruno Fernandes PFA Player of the Year Odds

One player whose impact has already been shown in the league is Spurs’ Son Heung-min, who in the early stages of the campaign, looked like breaking records just like his colleague Kane.

Currently, the South Korean is the Premier League's third top goalscorer with 11 goals in 15 appearances, whilst he has also bagged himself four assists, meaning he has at least one goal involvement per game so far in 2020/21.

Many of these goals have come from the new strong partnership with Kane, whose passing ability has been incredible. If the Spurs winger can continue his goalscoring form, it is possible he can win the Golden Boot, which would help his cause for the trophy.

A title win would also greatly improve his chances, but it does seem as good as Son is, Kane is even better and if anybody is going to snatch the award from north London, it's likely Spurs' number 10. Son Heung-Min is now priced at 10/1 odds of lifting the PFA Player of the Year trophy.

Mohamed Salah PFA Player of the year odds

Former PFA Player of the Year winner, Mohamed Salah, is another contender for this award, as he has been constantly since he returned to English football with Liverpool.

The Egyptian winger won the award in the 2017/18 season after he set a new Premier League record for the most amount of goals in a 38 game season with 32 in his debut year at Anfield. The record was formerly shared by three players, who all managed 31 goals: Alan Shearer, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez.

It is unlikely he will break that record again as in the last two seasons he has totalled 22 and 19 goals, respectively for Liverpool in the league. This year, however, he has returned to the top of the goalscoring charts once more with 13 goals in 15 games and the winger is beginning to bridge a gap on the likes of Son, Kane, Jamie Vardy and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

If he can finish with the Golden Boot and another league title, then it will be tough to bet against him winning another PFA Player of the Year trophy. As of now, Mohamed Salah is priced at odds of 9/1 to win the PFA Player of the Year award for 2021.
