Callum Hudson-Odoi Transfer News & Odds

Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi could be on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge having played just 966 minutes worth of Premier League football for the Blues under Thomas Tuchel.

With two years left on the 21-year-old’s contract, this would ideally be the best summer for Chelsea to sell, as they would get a bigger fee than that of next summer due to the Londoner’s contract ticking down. It must also be noted, that loans do count.

Borussia Dortmund Odds: 6/4

Callum Hudson-Odoi is once again being linked to a move to Germany, though this time to Borussia Dortmund rather than Bayern Munich.

Dortmund’s attacking line has taken a few hits in the past transfer windows, losing Jadon Sancho to Manchester United and Erling Haaland to Manchester City in back-to-back summers.

Hudson-Odoi has struggled with injuries since his first team debut with Chelsea in the 2018/19 season under then-boss Maurizio Sarri, making fewer and fewer appearances in the following seasons.

However, Hudson-Odoi has proven himself as a player worthy of European football. In his break-out year, the Englishman made nine appearances with winners Chelsea in the Europa League, scoring four goals and registering two assists, just missing out on the Final due to injury.

Overall, Hudson-Odoi would be a solid and likely addition to the Dortmund squad, with four seasons of Premier League experience under his belt and a further three seasons of experience in the Champions League.

Leicester City Odds: 3/1

The winger has also been tipped for a move to Leicester, who have yet to make any signings this transfer window, despite losing big names like captain Kasper Schmeichel.

Last season the top scorers for The Foxes were James Maddison and Jamie Vardy, 18 and 17 in all competitions respectively. However, Maddison is a well sought-after talent, with an abundance of bids coming in for the midfielder, namely from Newcastle. Along with this, Jamie Vardy is now 35 years old and is playing less and less for Leicester, making only 25 appearances in the 2021/22 season.

The addition of Hudson-Odoi to Brendan Rodgers squad would be a logical move, and is a likely one, especially after the departures of Demarai Gray and injury to Harvey Barnes.

Hudson-Odoi is Premier League proven, something that would benefit Leicester, especially if The Foxes are pushing to make a return to European football, something they will be without in the 2022/23 season due to their eighth place finish last season.

Hudson-Odoi is priced at 3/1 to make the switch from Chelsea to Leicester.

Southampton Odds: 13/2

Hudson-Odoi could also swap the capital for the coast with a potential move to Ralph Hassenhuttl’s Southampton.

Southampton finished 15th last season, only five points safe from relegation, as The Saints only managed to record nine wins for the entire season, the fourth worst record in the league.

Though Southampton haven’t lost anyone so far this transfer window, they could still make improvements to their squad. In terms of acquisitions, The Saints have mainly focused on the midfield, only bringing in one attacker, Sekou Mara from Bordeaux.

Southampton’s top scorer was James Ward-Prowse for the 2021/22 season with ten goals in the Premier League, with Armando Broja following with six goals. However, the Albanian has been recalled to Chelsea over the summer, leaving The Saints without his goals, making a Premier League-proven Hudson-Odoi a sensible and somewhat probable option.

Hudson Odoi is priced at 13/2 to join Southampton in the current transfer window.

Newcastle United Odds: 10/1

After signing manager Eddie Howe up to a longer-term contract, Newcastle look to continue bolstering their squad before the transfer window shuts in September.

So far this transfer window Newcastle have made a few statement signings, the new ownership funding the new era under Howe. Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Sven Botman being the biggest amongst the new names at St James’ Park. However, all of these signings are defensive-minded, with a left-back, centre-back and goalkeeper.

Though The Magpies did have defensive issues last season, and needed to address them in the transfer window, they also failed to make a real impact at the other end of the pitch. The top scorer for Newcastle in the 2021/22 season was Callum Wilson with eight, then Allan Saint-Maximin with five.

The addition of Hudson-Odoi could give The Magpies some much-needed creativity up top, and unlike some other transfers, the Englishman has played in England, in the Premier League for his entire career, so a transition period should be able to be avoided.

Hudson-Odoi is priced at 10/1 to trade in Stamford Bridge for St James’ Park.

Everton Odds: 12/1

Hudson-Odoi could also find himself travelling north to Goodison Park to reunite with former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard. Lampard and The Toffees very narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League, a 3 - 2 win over Crystal Palace in the penultimate match week gave them the breathing space over Leeds and Burnley.

Despite being given his debut under Sarri, when Lampard came in to replace the Italian in the 2019/20 season, he kept the youngster in the team, with Hudson-Odoi making 22 Premier League appearances in Lampard’s first season, and 10 appearances in the 2020/21 season before Lampard left Chelsea.

A move to Everton could be a good and likely move for Hudson-Odoi who is seemingly out of favour under Thomas Tuchel, sometimes having to play as a left wing-back in order to get minutes. After losing top scorer Richarlison, a young winger such as Hudson-Odoi could help remedy some of Everton’s attacking woes.

Hudson-Odoi is priced at 12/1 to reunite with Lampard at Goodison Park.
