Goncalo Ramos Transfer News & Odds

After bursting on the scene in Qatar with a hat-trick on his first start for Portugal, Goncalo Ramos announced himself to the world as one of the hottest prospects in world football.

The 21-year-old has been firing for Benfica in Liga Portugal all season, with nine goals and three assists in 12 appearances so far. It’s seen his stock rise as some of Europe’s biggest teams look to snap him up. Here are some of those rumoured to be interested.

Manchester United Odds: 6/1

It’s no secret that Manchester United will be after a centre-forward, either in the January window or in the summer. Goncalo Ramos fits the bill of a young, prolific frontman that can get on the end of chances.

With Cristiano Ronaldo leaving on a free transfer to join Al Nassr, it’s left Erik ten Hag’s side short of strikers up top. The likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial can play centrally and that will have to be the option, but there is a feeling that they are both more suited to playing as wingers, cutting inside from the left.

Despite a poor start, ten Hag has got United firing as of late and the Red Devils have been on a good run with Rashford on red-hot form down the left. An out-and-out talisman up front could elevate United even further, with a proper striker up front to pounce on the chances made by United’s strong attacking side.

With Ronaldo gone, it looks inevitable that United will turn to the transfer market to replace him. It could be Ramos, who came in to replace Ronaldo for Portugal at the World Cup, who takes his place again at Old Trafford.

PSG Odds: 6/1

Paris Saint-Germain have the best frontline in world football, but the shrewd signing of Ramos could be a signing with long-term success in mind.

The trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Lionel Messi is an attacking line-up that will surely be the first choice for the Parisians, but Ramos could come in as strong backup if rotation is needed. With Messi now 35 years of age and Neymar aged 30, 21-year-old Ramos could be the long partner for Mbappe up front.

Mbappe is dangerous in any position up front, but there is a case that his best position could be cutting in from the left and taking on defenders. That could see PSG look to bolster their striking options, with only youngster Hugo Ekiteke the only other recognised striker at the club.

PSG are priced at 6/1 to sign Ramos in January.

Chelsea Odds: 9/1

Graham Potter’s Chelsea have been a terrible run since his appointment – struggling for goals and struggling for wins. The former Brighton manager could look to sign a striker in the transfer window to try and generate an attacking spark that could see his team move forward.

After Romelu Lukaku’s return turned out to be a lacklustre one last season, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was brought in to spearhead the Chelsea attack. The former Arsenal man has failed to lead the line proficiently though, with just the one league goal all season.

The Blues have already brought in David Fofana from Molde, but with a long-term injury to Armando Broja, as well as nobody really knowing what Kai Havertz’s best position is, a prolific new striker could be worth looking at.

Ramos is priced at 9/1 to make the switch from Benfica to Chelsea.

Newcastle United Odds: 9/1

As the evolution at Newcastle continues, a big-money hot prospect could be an option to take the Magpies even further up the table.

Newcastle’s recruitment has been superb since the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund takeover, with the likes of Kieran Trippier, Bruno Guimaraes, and Sven Botman all shrewd signings. As the team continues to improve, up-front could be the next target to bolster.

Alexander Isak was signed for a huge sum in the summer, but the Swedish marksman has had injury problems that has kept him out for most of the season. Callum Wilson is also another forward that, despite having a huge impact, has a lot of injury concerns and has spent his fair share of time on the sideline. With Chris Wood the other striker for Eddie Howe’s side, a move for a talent like Ramos could be the answer.

Ramos is priced at 9/1 to join Newcastle.

Real Madrid Odds: 10/1

If Goncalo Ramos continues to show his outstanding potential, it could be only a matter of time before the biggest clubs in the world are fighting it out for the Benfica starlet.

Real Madrid are one of, if not the biggest in the world, and would likely be in the conversation when discussing who will get Ramos’ signature. The need for a top striker could be even more necessary for Los Blancos, who are relying on Karim Benzema leading the line currently. Whilst he has aged like a fine wine and is at his peak, Benzema is now 35 years old, and injuries have troubled in in recent years. A new, fresh talent up top to go alongside Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo could be needed in the near future for Madrid – with Ramos fitting that bill.

Ramos is priced at 10/1 to move to Real Madrid from Benfica.
