After Jesse Lingard's disappointing spell with Nottingham Forest came to an end following the end of the 30-year-old's contract at the City Ground, we’ve used the latest outright odds on Bet365 to see where Lingard may be heading next.

The ex-Manchester United man managed two goals and two assists in 20 appearances across all competitions, with all of his goal contributions coming in Forest's League Cup run that saw them defeated in the semi-finals by the Red Devils.

Lingard will be looking to revive his career as he did while on loan at West Ham in 2020/21, where he scored nine goals and created five assists in 16 matches during the second half of that campaign.

Following a poor personal campaign which saw Lingard fail to register a goal or an assist in 17 Premier League appearances for Forest, the 30-year-old could look to regain some form abroad.

Lingard is no stranger to USA, having previously mentioned his business interests and the value of being in America. The former Manchester United midfielder has an online presence including over 9.5 million Instagram followers, with a move to the glitz and glamour of the USA a potential way to capitalise on those numbers and improve his celebrity standing, whilst adding more quality to the MLS. A short run in the MLS followed by a career in the American limelight looks a likely option for ‘JLingz’.

The footballing project to entice established names to the league to grow its reputation is in full swing, with plenty of players being tempted to switch to Saudi Arabia, particularly those looking for one last big payday. With Lingard turning 31 in December, a final spell in Saudi Arabia for a couple or so years, earning a big wage, could be tempting.

Lingard could follow in the footsteps of former England teammate Dele Alli and move to Turkey in order to try and revive his career.

Reports from Turkey claimed that the former Forest ace had already been offered to Besiktas by the Midlands outfit earlier in the year, and with Lingard now a free agent, those links could materialise.

Former Tottenham midfielder Alli has seen his disastrous loan spell with the Black Eagles come to an end, which could open the door for a move for free agent Lingard. Besiktas’ rivals Fenerbahçe could also be a potential opportunity for Lingard if the Englishman fancies his chances in Turkey.

The Yellow Canaries have also been linked with the former Leicester City loanee, as plenty of overseas clubs eye up a deal for Lingard. Fenerbahçe could look to the attacking midfielder to be the spark that enhances their side, after finishing eight points below Galatasaray in the Super Lig. Michy Batshuayi and Enner Valencia are among the names that line up for the Istanbul side.

If a new experience abroad is something that interests Lingard, a link-up with former boss Jose Mourinho at Roma could be a persuasive option.

Lingard arguably played his best football under Mourinho as the pair won the Europa League, Community Shield, and EFL Cup during their time together at Man United. The veteran manager may be able to get the best out of Lingard again as his Italian side push for European football in Serie A. With a Premier League return looking unlikely, the Italian top tier could be the only one of Europe’s top five leagues to offer Lingard a chance.

Sheffield United could look to swoop for Lingard and offer him a lifeline as the Blades look to retain their Premier League status next season.
