Nathan Ake Transfer News & Odds

Nathan Ake looks set to leave Manchester City this summer having played just 920 minutes worth of Premier League football last season, with five of his 14 appearances coming as a cover left-back.

The 27-year-old Netherlands international is highly rated and was tracked by Manchester United when he was at AFC Bournemouth before City managed to quickly put a deal in place for him in the summer of 2020 for £41m.

Since joining the Citizens, Ake has made 40 appearances and has won the Premier League in both of his seasons at the club, as well as the League Cup in 2020/21.

Newcastle United 7/4
Aston Villa 8/1
Tottenham Hotspur 10/1
West Ham United 11/1
Everton 16/1
Juventus 16/1

Newcastle United Odds: 7/4

Newcastle United have been firmly linked with Ake with the Dutchman’s former boss Eddie Howe at the helm at St James’ Park.

Ake played a key role in the Cherries' defence under Howe as a leader, and the Dutchman would perfectly slot into the back line on Tyneside due to his pace, ball-playing abilities and defensive qualities.

Having not looked out of place at City when played, he could be the perfect option for the Magpies as they look to continue their progression under Howe which saw them finish 11th, having been bottom of the table at the start of December.

Aston Villa Odds: 8/1

Aston Villa have also been linked with a move for Ake having made another promising set of signings early on in the transfer window.

The Villains have already added defensive duo Diego Carlos and Boubacar Kamara to their ranks and could look to add Ake as they try and make a push for European football next season.

Villa, who were managed by Dean Smith and Steven Gerrard throughout last season leaked 54 goals in 38 matches, a statistic that will need to be drastically improved upon if they are to push into the top half of the table and towards the Europa Conference League place.

Ake is priced at 8/1 to move from City to Aston Villa this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur Odds: 10/1

Antonio Conte is also reportedly looking at the potential signing of Ake to boost his defence at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the Italian’s five-at-the-back formation playing an integral part in their qualification for the Champions League.

At present, Ben Davies plays as Spurs’ left-centre-back in their 5-2-3 formation and has exceeded expectations, but, is it feasible for the Welshman to be a permanent fixture in this role?

With Ake being left-footed and having previously played under Conte at Chelsea, he could be ideal for the Italian as he looks to make reinforcements to his side for next season.

Ake is priced at 10/1 to make the switch from the Etihad Stadium to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window.

West Ham United Odds: 11/1

West Ham are another side that will need to beef up their defence if they are to continue to play a 5-2-3 formation.

With Angelo Ogbonna suffering a big knee injury last season, as well as Aaron Cresswell pushing on into his early thirties, the signing of Ake could make plenty of sense for the Hammers as they look to compete once again next season.

David Moyes’ men can offer European football having managed to finish in the Europa Conference League places after a seventh-placed finish in the Premier League and with the Hammers looking like a club on the up, now could be a good time to join them.

Ake is priced at 11/1 to sign for West Ham.

Everton Odds: 16/1

Everton will be desperate to fix their defensive woes for the start of the 2022/23 campaign having come perilously close to relegation after leaking 66 goals in 38 matches.

With the likes of Mason Holgate and Michael Keane struggling to find consistent performances, on top of the fact that Yerry Mina has missed 37 games since the start of the 2019/20 season due to injury, Ake could be a vital component to the Toffees backline if signed.

The Dutch centre-back showed during his time at Bournemouth that he is a leader and offers good quality on the ball, something of which Frank Lampard would know about having been his teammate at Chelsea.

Everton are priced at 16/1 to sign Ake from City.

Juventus Odds: 16/1

The final team on this list of clubs that are interested in Ake’s signature are Italian giants Juventus as Massimiliano Allegri looks to carry on his rebuild of the Old Lady.

Club stalwart Giorgio Chiellini has recently departed the Juventus Stadium after 18 years at the club, with the Italian expected to join MLS outfit LAFC.

The signing of Ake could be ideal, as he would offer a high-quality option for Juventus’ defence if they look to play three at the back as they often did under Allegri. The Old Lady currently have the likes of Leonardo Bonucci and Mathijs De Ligt in their backline, with Ake potentially providing the left-footed option.

Juve are priced at 16/1 to acquire Ake ahead of the 2022/23 season.
