5 Players to Consider for FPL Gameweeks 4 & 5

Ismail

Mathias Jensen: Brentford - £5.1m

Brentford hosts struggling Everton this Saturday, as well as travelling to Crystal Palace in midweek and one player who has gone under the radar this season is midfielder Mathias Jensen.

The Dane has made a fantastic start to the season, scoring one goal and laying on two assists in the Bees' opening three matches. Jensen has picked up 19 points so far this season - an amazing tally in just three games and playing Everton, who are without a win so far, means that Jensen is likely to have another good weekend. And at just £5.1m, he is a steal.

Rodrigo: Leeds United - £6.3m

Our second pick is Leeds United's Rodrigo, who has also made a very impressive start to the season.

In just three games, the Spaniard has scored four goals, which is two less than his tally for the entirety of last season, when he bagged just six in 31 league outings. As well as his four goals, Rodrigo also has an assist to his name, taking his goal involvements for this season to five in just three games.

Having picked up seven, 15 and 13 points in game weeks so far, it means that he is likely to carry on this run of form and we can see him among the goals against Brighton this week and at home to Everton on Wednesday night. At a decent price of £6.3m he is a threat and a solid option to consider in his current form.

William Saliba: Arsenal - £4.6m

Arsenal have made a very impressive start to the 22/23 campaign, winning their opening three games of a season for the first time since 2004/05. The Gunners have scored nine goals and conceded just two, a feat that has them currently sat top of the table.

A large part of Arsenal’s early success has been in part due to the impressive form of young defender William Saliba. The Frenchman has finally turned out in an Arsenal shirt, despite being signed in July of 2019. But it has been worth the wait, with Saliba's composure and quality helping the Gunners to an impressive start.

At £4.6m on FPL, he is one of the cheapest defensive options out there, and his combined points tally so far is a stunning 22, making him a player that everyone should be picking. With the Gunners having two home games against Fulham and Aston Villa coming up, the former Marseille man could be an astute choice.

Miguel Almiron: Newcastle United - £5m

Newcastle travels to the West Midlands on Sunday to take on Wolves, with the Magpies hopeful of a win over their opponents to propel them into the top four.

Bruno Lage's side have made a poor start to the new season, picking up a draw and losing twice in their opening three matches. This will give hope to a Newcastle side who, in contrast, have started off the season very well.

Midfielder Miguel Almiron has been key to their start, with the Paraguayan playing 252 minutes out of a possible 270 so far, and scoring in the recent 3-3 draw with Manchester City. Almiron has picked up 13 points so far, and is a snip at just £5m.

With midfielders gaining points for clean sheets, and Newcastle likely to keep one against this poor Wolves side, it could be a great weekend for people with Almiron in their side.

James Ward-Prowse: Southampton - £6.5m

Southampton host Man Utd in the early kick-off on Saturday as well as Chelsea on Wednesday night. The Saints will be looking for their first home win of the season in their forthcoming fixtures

Talismanic figure James Ward-Prowse will be key to the Saints chances, as he already has 18 points in FPL. With a goal on the opening weekend against Tottenham and an assist in the Saints' recent win over Leicester, Ward-Prowse is likely to pick up points nearly every week due to his ability from set-pieces and his role in progressing the ball to create goalscoring chances in Ralph Hasenhuttl's side.

The midfielder is a bit on the pricey side at £6.5m, but with that price comes a guarantee of some goals - the Saints are playing a Man Utd side who are prone to conceding sloppy goals. They have already let in seven goals this season, and so we think that using Ward-Prowse will help in getting some extra points this week.
