5 Premier League Tips - 10/9/22

Liverpool vs Wolves: Wolves to win - 9/1

After last season’s near-perfect campaign, the expectations for Liverpool this seasons were similar, and thus far this season, they have massively underperformed, only winning two of their opening seven games in all competitions, culminating in a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Napoli in their Champions League opening game, where Liverpool looked deprived of confidence throughout the game.

This is the perfect side for Wolves to face to kick start their season after winning once in their first six league games, but they have the quality in the side to punish Liverpool like Napoli did, on the counter-attack, with Ruben Neves’s passing range and their pace in behind with Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto, whilst their defence has been solid to start the season, only conceding four times, and no more than once in a single game.

Leeds vs Nottingham Forest: Leeds to win & Over 3.5 Goals - 10/3

Both Leeds United and Nottingham Forest have brought great entertainment to the Premier League this season, for better or worse of their results, with Forest conceding the third most goals and Leeds conceding the joint-fourth most whilst also scoring the seventh most.

Forest so far have really struggled to build team cohesion with their massive summer overhaul, bringing in twenty-two summer signings, which has seen them concede eleven goals in their past three games and whilst Leeds have seen big changes over the summer, they have all fitted very well into Jesse Marsch’s system and whilst results have swayed in their past three games, they have still performed very well and will be confident to take the game to Forest.

Southampton vs Brentford: Brentford to win & Both Teams to Score - 4/1

Brentford have had an outstanding start to the season, especially in attack, scoring the joint-second most goals in the league so far this season with 15 goals in six games, including five goals in a win over Leeds in their last game, and whilst their defence has been troubled at times, they would like a similar game to their fixture against The Saints at the end of last season, which resulted in a 3-0 win.

Southampton have made a much better start to this campaign compared to last season where they failed to win in their first seven games, but they have yet to keep a clean sheet so far this season, and this on-fire Brentford attack with Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo in great form.

Manchester City vs Tottenham: Draw & Both Teams to Score - 5/1

For the first time since the 2015/16 season, Spurs did the double over Manchester City last campaign, winning 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and emerging victorious 3-2 at the Etihad in one of the games of the season and have carried their form from the end of last season to this campaign, winning four of their six league games, drawing the other two, the same record as Pep Guardiola’s City to start the season.

Antonio Conte’s style of sitting deep and hitting on the counter with pace will always cause City some sort of trouble and with Spurs’ quality up top with Harry Kane, Heung Min Son and Dejan Kulusevski, but City’s attack with Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland in great form, might be too good for Spurs not to concede a few chances in the game, which will make for a very entertaining matchup.

Leicester City vs Aston Villa: Philippe Coutinho to Score From Outside the box - 8/1

Defensively both teams have been very poor to start the season, conceding the second and fourth most goals, whilst not creating many chances themselves, with Leicester averaging only 0.92 xG per 90 minutes, third worst in the league and Aston Villa even worse, averaging 0.75 xG per 90, with both teams taking a lot of shots from outside the area, with Leicester average shots taken from being 18.9 metres, the furthest in the league and Aston Villa’s being 18.1 metres, the third furthest.

In Leicester’s last match against Brighton, they conceded a lot of chances due to lack of communication and poor effort, leaving a lot of space for the Brighton players, if they leave the same space for someone like Phillipe Coutinho’s outside of the box, he won't have to think twice about taking the shot and with his record of scoring great goals, he has the ability to punish Leicester lackadaisical defending.
