5 Premier League Tips for the Weekend's Action - 11/3/23

Our first tip involves a London derby, with leaders Arsenal making the short journey across the capital to take on Fulham.

It should ultimately end up being another win for the Gunners this weekend, but they will be made to work by the Cottagers for any win. Fulham have been tough to break down this season, actually conceding less goals than both Tottenham and Manchester United so far this season.

However, we do expect Gabriel Martinelli to break Fulham’s defensive resistance, with the Brazilian currently on a good run of form. He has scored four league goals in Arsenal’s last five league outings, and performed well against Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League in midweek.

But, we also expect Fulham’s Manor Solomon to match the Brazilian, with the winger having made an explosive start to life back in the first team after returning from injury. Recent goals against Nottingham Forest, Brighton, Wolves and Brentford means that Solomon has scored in four consecutive league games, and considering Arsenal’s poor defensive showings as of late, Solomon should be able to add to his tally against the Gunners.

Aston Villa have been in relatively fine form since the appointment of Unai Emery, with many players at the club looking reinvigorated under the Spaniard’s tutelage.

One such player is Ollie Watkins, who has been in outstanding form since Emery’s appointment and looks like a player reborn. The Englishman has scored five goals in Villa’s last six league matches, including goals against both Arsenal and Manchester City in the process.

Now despite the Hammers’ midweek win in the Europa Conference League, they are in poor form domestically and are at serious risk of relegation, having earned just one win from their last five matches. So we expect the former Brentford forward to continue his goalscoring hot streak this weekend and exploit the Hammers’ poor league form. And to achieve this, expect Watkins to have multiple attempts on goal during this game.

After suffering an embarrassing 9-0 thrashing at Anfield in the opening weeks of the season, Bournemouth takes on Liverpool again in the Premier League, and they will be hoping to avoid yet another heavy defeat to the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have been in poor form for the majority of this season, but stunned Manchester United last week by thrashing their great rivals 7-0 in what was a hugely confidence-boosting win for the struggling Merseyside outfit.

Bournemouth will try their best to frustrate, but Liverpool’s forwards should be able to take the momentum gained from that 7-0 win into this game and emerge with an emphatic win. Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo were central in achieving that historic win, and they will surely play large roles in what should be another large win against Bournemouth this weekend.

Our fourth tip sees Brentford take on Everton in a match that should see the Bees emerge victorious.

Ninth-place Brentford have been unbeaten in the league since October, and after a dominant 3-2 win against Fulham in their most recent match, they will fancy themselves to emerge victorious when they come up against a struggling Everton side who are currently 18th and in poor form.

Brentford have managed to score more than one goal in three of their last six matches (against Fulham, Southampton and Bournemouth), and also managed to get 4+ corners in three of their last six (picking up four corners against both- 5 corners against Bournemouth, and 4 against both Arsenal and Southampton, and 5 against Bournemouth). They look well set to emerge as winners of this match on Saturday.

Our final tip for this weekend’s Premier League action sees 17th-place Leeds host high-flying Brighton, and we expect winger Kaoru Mitoma to get on the scoresheet in what should turn out to be a Brighton win.

Mitoma has been excellent all season, and has managed to score four in his last eight in all competitions. Against a Leeds side that have conceded at least one goal in seven of their last eight matches, Mitoma should be able to get himself on the scoresheet and add to the six league goals he already has this season.
