5 Premier League Tips for the Weekend’s Action – 21/1/23

West Ham vs Everton: BTTS, each team 1+ corners in each half & each team 20+ booking pts – 13/2

A huge six-pointer takes place on Saturday as West ham host Everton. It is a must-win contest for David Moyes and Frank Lampard, who are both under an insane amount of pressure and a defeat will most likely cost either manager their job. With Both sides desperate to win this game as well in terms of the league table, we should see a feisty end-to-end affair.

West Ham had developed into a defensively solid side under David Moyes, however, this season the Hammers have conceded 1.33 goals per game at home. Visitors Everton also concede 1.33 goals per away game this season and they were beaten 2-1 at home last weekend by relegation rivals Southampton.

Both sides like to attack with width, using crosses as the main approach to unlock defences. Therefore, we should see plenty of corners for both. With the game having so much on the line, West Ham and Everton will be up for the occasion. Everton register 2.3 cards away from home and the hosts only 1.3 cards, however, the game will become scrappy.

Leicester City vs Brighton & Hove Albion: Brighton to win, BTTS, 9+ corners & 40+ booking pts – 8/1

Brighton destroyed Leicester 5-2 earlier on in the season and given both sides' recent form, a similar scoreline could reoccur. This season, Brighton have seen 78% of their away games end with both teams scoring and they are the highest average goal scorers away from home in the entire league. The Seagulls travel to Leicester off the back of a 3-0 victory over Liverpool and they have scored three goals in four of their last five matches.

Leicester, however, have lost their last four games and have looked completely uninterested. Their last win in the Premier League at home came in October against Leeds, but they are often let down by poor finishing. Both teams will approach the game with attacking intent, which should lead to a fast-paced tennis-like tie. I don’t see any outcome that isn’t a Brighton win and Roberto De Zerbi will be confident that his side can walk away with all three points.

Leeds vs Brentford: Ivan Toney 2 Shots on target – 7/4

In form Brentford travels to Elland Road on Sunday to face a Leeds side who are struggling defensively under boss Jesse Marsch. Leeds have the highest expected goals conceded (xGC) over the last six games in the entire Premier League which indicates that the Brentford forward line should get plenty of opportunities.

The pace of Bryan Mbuemo alongside Ivan Toney will cause havoc amongst the Leeds backline, especially in transitions. The last time these two sides faced, Brentford won 5-2, with Ivan Toney bagging a hattrick and accumulating four shots on target.

Toney has scored 13 goals this season in the Premier League and he averages just short of three shots per game. Toney being priced at 7/4 to have two SOT is a solid price considering the opposition, especially as he has now scored in his last five appearances.

Man City vs Wolves, Ruben Neves 1+ SOT – 4/1

A Rejuvenated Wolves side travel to face Manchester City on Sunday. Ruben Neves is the heartbeat of Julen Lopetegui’s side and he is not afraid to let fly from range. The Wolves captain has had a SOT in two of his last three starts, with one of those coming away at Anfield.

Neves takes all free kicks for Wolves and if it is in range, he will take a strike at goal. With Adama Traore back in the side, Wanderers should win quite a few free kicks up the pitch. This is due to City’s possession style and Wolves looking to counter attack at any given chance. There is also only one way to stop Adama on the counter …

Arsenal vs Manchester United: Arsenal to win, BTTS, 9+ corners and 40+ booking points – 6/1

Arsenal host Manchester United in what is set to be a fantastic game with both sides in great form. The Gunners have an abundance of firepower in attack and so do the Red Devils. It almost seems guaranteed that we will see goals on Sunday with both teams scoring.

At the Emirates this season, Arsenal have seen BTTS in 75% of their games and Manchester United have seen BTTS in 60% of their away games.

However, with the absence of Casemiro due to suspension, Arsenal should just edge their Manchester opponents like they did last season in a 3-1 victory. This fixture has traditionally been feisty and with both sides looking for silverware this season, it should live up to its expectation. The last two meetings between these sides has seen six and seven yellow cards. With United and Arsenal both having tricky wingers, we should also see plenty of corners.
