Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest Prediction

Arsenal are looking to return to winning ways and we expect them to do so at home to Nottingham Forest. Despite their recent form, the Gunners’ record over Forest has proven that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have struggled at the Emirates. The hosts have won the previous five meetings at the Emirates – including a 5-0 win in 2022.

Mikel Arteta’s team are without a clean sheet in their previous three, so Forest could be the ones to score first in this fixture as they have scored first in each of their previous five. Over 2.5 goals have been scored in six of the previous eight meetings between the two sides. Arsenal are unbeaten at home this season, with six wins in eight in all competitions – Arsenal 2-1 Nottingham Forest

Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest: Preview & Prediction

Nottingham Forest travel to Arsenal in the Premier League, with both teams looking to get back to winning ways after dropped points last time out.

Date: 23/11/24

Kick-off time: 15:00

Venue: Emirates Stadium

Arsenal have suffered from a string of poor performances and results which have left them nine points adrift of first place Liverpool. They are currently in fourth, level on points with Chelsea in third and four behind Man City. It has been an uncharacteristic run for the hosts, which has seen them winless in their last four league games. However, after a difficult stretch, the Gunners have the perfect opportunity to get back on track at home, before a favourable stretch of games to come.

It will not be straightforward for Mikel Arteta’s men against a very impressive Nottingham Forest side. The visitors have exceeded expectations greatly, with Nuno Espirito Santo leading them to fifth place after 11 games. They are level on points with their opponents, and will return to the top four with a victory. Although, defeat could see them fall to as low as 11th if other results do not go their way.

For a defence that seemed so formidable to start the season, Arsenal have proved to be more vulnerable in recent weeks. They have now conceded 12 goals in the league, six coming in the last four. There have been no clean sheets in their last seven. This presents a great chance for Forest striker Chris Wood to get on the scoresheet. The New Zealand native has scored eight goals so far, only Erling Haaland has netted more.

Arteta has been boosted by the return of Martin Odegaard. The midfielder had been absent since the end of August before his start at Chelsea. Goals have been hard to come by of late, with just three in their last four, so his involvement should see an improvement. Bukayo Saka is always a threat, and has been key as a playmaker providing seven assists. Forest have the second-best defence behind Liverpool, but face a tough test.

As expected, Arsenal have been the superior side in this fixture. The pair have met four times since Forest’s promotion in 2022, and the Gunners have won three of them. Last season they did the double, winning both games by a score of 2-1. Forest’s last win came in May 2023, when they were 1-0 winners at the City Ground.

Form Guide

Arsenal:

In their last five games, Arsenal have won one, lost two and drawn two. It has been a bad stretch for the Gunners recently as they have fallen down the table. This run started with a huge top of the table clash with Liverpool. Arsenal had a couple of key absences, but they still managed to come away with a 2-2 draw. They took the lead twice through Bukayo Saka and Mikel Merino, but were pegged back on both occasions.

A midweek fixture saw them take on Preston in the fourth round of the EFL Cup. They beat their lower league opposition 3-0 with goals from Gabriel Jesus, Ethan Nwaneri and Kai Havertz. They then travelled to Newcastle in the league. They lost their second game of the season 1-0. Alexander Isak scored the winning goal in the first half.

Attention shifted to Champions League action but they fell to another defeat, this time at Inter Milan. Hakan Calhanoglu scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot. Their most recent game was a trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea. Despite taking the lead through Gabriel Martinelli, the Blues salvaged a point thanks to a Pedro Neto strike.

Nottingham Forest:

In their last five games, Nottingham Forest have won three, drawn one and lost one. It has been an incredible run for Forest, which has them towards the top of the league table. A tough trip to Chelsea started this run, but they came away with a point in a 1-1 draw. They took the lead through Chris Wood, but were pegged back by Noni Madueke. Despite a late red card to James Ward-Prowse, they were able to hang on.

Three consecutive wins followed, the first of which a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace. Wood scored the only goal of the game in the 65th minute. They then travelled to Leicester, beating the Foxes 3-1. Ryan Yates’ opener was cancelled out by Jamie Vardy before a second half brace from Wood earned them the three points.

Next they hosted West Ham, a game which they comfortably won 3-0. Wood, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ola Aina were all on the scoresheet. Their most recent game saw just their second loss on the season as they fell 3-1 at home to Newcastle. Murillo opened the scoring for Forest, but goals from Alexander Isak, Joelinton and Harvey Barnes turned it around.
