          Aston Villa vs Bournemouth Prediction

Aston Villa have made a strong start to the season and we expect this to continue this weekend against Bournemouth. Villa have lost just once in their last five home games in the Premier League, stretching back to last season. They have also been unbeaten in their previous three home games since the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal earlier in the campaign.

Unai Emery’s side are unbeaten in their last three meetings with Bournemouth, with the Cherries failing to keep a clean sheet in any of these games. This fixture tends to provide goals, with both teams scoring in five of the last seven meetings. Over 2.5 goals have been scored in six of the previous seven between the two sides. Bournemouth have conceded first in five of their previous seven, with them only winning once in their last five away outings – Aston Villa 3-2 Bournemouth

Aston Villa vs Bournemouth: Preview & Prediction

Aston Villa welcome Bournemouth to Villa Park, with both teams looking to build on wins in the Premier League last weekend.

          Date: 26/10/24

          Kick-off time: 15:00

          Venue: Villa Park

Unai Emery and Villa are looking to finish in the top four of the Premier League for the second consecutive season, and have made an excellent start to this campaign. They currently occupy fourth place with 17 points after eight games. They trail leaders Liverpool by four points and have lost just once on the season, against Arsenal early on. A victory against Bologna in midweek means they have won three of their last four in all competitions.

Visiting Villa Park is Bournemouth, who have endured a mixed run of form, but picked up their biggest win of the season last time out. This also came against Arsenal as they were 2-0 winners at home. They sit in 11th with 11 points, winning three and losing three.

Goals should be prominent in this fixture, particularly from the hosts. Villa have scored 15 goals so far this season, only three teams have found the back of the net on more occasions. They have an elite striker duo of Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran, who have combined for nine league goals. The latter does his damage off the bench, showcasing the strength in depth they possess.

The attack should come into this one confidently, against a Cherries defence who have kept just one clean sheet all season. However, they will also have to be on high alert at the back, as Bournemouth can also pose a threat going forward. Antoine Semenyo is their biggest danger, as he leads the club with three goals. Club-record signing Evanilson is still looking to make a mark as he tries to fill the hole left by Dominic Solanke. He has only scored once so far.

Since 2015, these two teams have met eight times in the Premier League. Bournemouth have edged the head-to-head in recent years with four wins to three, but have not tasted victory since 2022. They had a run of four consecutive wins before this, though have lost two of the last three. Last season, Villa were 3-1 winners at home, with the reverse fixture ending in a 2-2 draw. At Villa Park, the hosts came from behind after Dominic Solanke scored a penalty. Morgan Rogers, Moussa Diaby and Leon Bailey scored the goals.

          Team News

          Aston Villa

Jaden Philogene will miss this game through suspension after receiving a red card in the last game. Tyrone Mings should be set for a return. Unai Emery has no new injury concerns otherwise.

          Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has a fully fit squad to choose from. He could name an unchanged lineup to the one who beat Arsenal 2-0 last weekend.

          Form Guide

          Aston Villa:

In their last five games, Aston Villa have won three and drawn two. It has been a strong stretch for Villa as they have not been defeated. However, this run started with dropped points away at Ipswich. The final score was 2-2 as both teams squandered leads. Morgan Rogers cancelled out an early opener before the hosts equalised late on. Ollie Watkins scored Villa’s goal to go ahead.

Attention shifted to European action and they made a huge statement with a 1-0 home win over Bayern Munich. Super-sub Jhon Duran scored the winner with 11 minutes to go as they held off their opponent’s dominance. Man United were the next visitors to Villa Park where they were held to a goalless draw.

They returned to winning ways with a 3-1 win at Fulham at the weekend. Raul Jimenez gave Fulham a fifth-minute lead, but this was quickly erased by Rogers. Watkins put Villa ahead before an own goal extended their advantage. In their most recent game, they beat Bologna 2-0 in the Champions League. John McGinn and Duran scored the goals.

          Bournemouth:

In their last five games, Bournemouth have won two and lost three. It has been a difficult stretch for the Cherries in recent weeks. However, they picked up a huge victory last time out against Arsenal at home. They were 2-0 winners against a 10-man Gunners side after William Saliba was shown a straight red card in the first half. Ryan Christie and Justin Kluivert were the scorers.

This run began with a 1-0 loss at home to Chelsea. Evanilson missed a penalty in the first half, which proved costly as Christopher Nkunku scored a late winner. They then faced a tricky trip to Anfield. A disallowed goal denied them the lead before Luis Diaz scored two in as many minutes to take the game away. Darwin Nunez added a third.

Bournemouth picked up their second win of the season against Southampton. Evanilson, Dango Ouattara and Antoine Semenyo gave them a 3-0 half-time lead. The Saints pulled one back shortly after the restart. They followed this with a disappointing 1-0 loss at Leicester. Facundo Buonanotte scored the winner in the 16th minute.
