          Brighton vs Wolves Prediction

Brighton should be comfortable enough to deal with a Wolverhampton Wanderers side who are still winless in the Premier League this season.

Wolves have a terrible start to the season, as they sit rooted to the bottom of the table after eight games, facing a Brighton side flying in the European places this season. Wolves are winless in their previous six, losing their last five in all competitions.

This fixture will likely provide goals for either side based on the recent fixtures for both respectively. Both teams have scored in four of the last five involving Brighton and the last six involving Wolves. Wolves are also without a clean sheet in their previous six.

Over 2.5 goals have been scored in five of the last seven - with the Seagulls scoring first in five of those seven meetings. Statistically, Wolves have the worst defensive record in the league, with 23 goals conceded in eight games.

Judging from the recent statistics for each side, we are looking at nothing but a Brighton win to potentially heap more pressure on Gary O’Neil.

Brighton vs Wolves Preview & Prediction

Brighton and Hove Albion will be looking to continue their impressive start under Fabian Hürzeler as they host a Wolves side looking for their first win. Gary O’Neil could be under pressure if results do not fall the visitors' way in the next few weeks.

          Date: 26/10/2024

Location: The American Express Stadium (Falmer Stadium)

          Kick-Off: 3 pm

Brighton and Hove Albion have been on an upward trajectory since they arrived in the Premier League and have become a steady club that now consistently competes for European football. The Seagulls have been excellent once again under Fabian Hürzeler, as the hosts sit in fifth place in the Premier League. Brighton and Hove Albion could move into the top four, if they were to beat Wolves and other results elsewhere fall in their favour. At home is where Brighton’s strengths are utilised, as the Seagulls are unbeaten, having beaten the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United this season. The revitalisation of Danny Welbeck has been pivotal for the Seagulls, with the former Manchester United man having scored five goals in eight league starts this season.

Gary O’Neil could face immense pressure as Wolves manager should results not be turned around under his stewardship. O’Neill will be pleased knowing he still retains most of the crowd support from the faithful at Molineux. In retrospect to Wolves, they have faced the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and, most recently, Manchester City. However, the worrying note for Wolves is their home form, having not obtained a single point at home.

The two sides have met already this season in the EFL Cup, with the Seagulls recording a 3-2 win over Wolves. The two sides met three times last season, with each side recording a win over each other, Brighton (League) and Wolves (FA Cup). The game at the American Express Stadium ended in a stalemate last season.

          Where to watch

The game will not be available in the UK because of the 3 pm blackout.

          Team News

Predicted Brighton Lineup: Verbruggen, Veltman, Igor, Dunk, Kadioglu, Rutter, Baleba, Hinshelwood, Ayari, Ferguson, Welbeck.

Predicted Wolves Lineup: Sa, Bueno, Dawson, Toti Gomes, Semedo, Joao Gomes, Andre, Lemina, Ait Nouri, Cunha, Strand Larsen.

          Form Guide

The recent history between the two sides favours the Seagulls heading into this fixture. Brighton and Hove Albion have won four of the previous five meetings between the two teams and three of the last five meetings across all domestic competitions. Wolves’ recent record at the American Express Stadium is relatively strong compared to their overall record. Wolves have only lost once to Brighton on their travels, although that one defeat was a humiliating 6-0 defeat two seasons prior.

Brighton and Hove Albion have been in excellent form over the last five games, having only suffered one defeat in their previous five - including three wins and a draw in that run. The Seagulls have recorded two consecutive victories over the likes of Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur. The most recent win over Newcastle United provided another goal for Danny Welbeck, who took his tally up to five for the season.

Brighton and Hove Albion are unbeaten at home this season, scoring seven and conceding five on home soil this season. The Seagulls have averaged 1.75 goals per game at home and have conceded 1.25 goals in that time. Brighton have only recorded two clean sheets at home this season.

Statistically, Wolves have the worst defensive record in the league, with 23 goals conceded in eight games. Wolves are on an abysmal run of form heading into this game, having lost their last six in all competitions and their previous five in the Premier League. The last time Wolevs obtained a result was conveniently away from home against Nottingham Forest.

In their most recent away game, Wolves produced an eight-goal thriller against Brentford, although evidently, Gary O’Neil’s side came up short. Against Manchester City, Wolves were excellent against the champions and showed great determination despite falling short thanks to a 95th minute from England defender John Stones.
