The loss to Tottenham confirmed Burnley’s relegation but if Forest can pick up a win against The Clarets they could beat out Luton Town for the remaining spot in the Premier League next season.

Burnley currently sit 19th in the Premier League after 37 games. The Clarets have five wins, nine draws and 23 losses, leaving them on 24 points, five points away from safety with one game to go.

The Clarets have struggled in front of goal this season, scoring 40 goals in 37 games, an average of 1.08 goals a game. However, Burnley have been even worse defensively, conceding 76 goals and keeping two clean sheets.

Nottingham Forest sit just above Burnley in 17th in the Premier League. In 37 games, Forest have eight wins, nine draws and 20 losses which leaves them on 29 points, three points above Luton with one game to go.

Forest have been better in attack this season, scoring 47 goals in 37 games which is an average of 1.27 goals a game. Forest have also been better at the other end of the pitch, conceding 66 goals and keeping four clean sheets.

This will be the 110th meeting between Burnley and Nottingham Forest, with the first meeting coming back in 1892. Burnley have the slightly better record in the fixture with 43 wins in comparison to Forest’s 37 wins, the other 29 games ending in a draw.

The last five games in this fixture have seen three Burnley wins and two draws. This fixture usually sees both sides on the scoresheet, with both teams scoring in three of the last five games.

Burnley finally converted one of their three shots on target with 15 minutes to go through Josh Brownhill. However, just five minutes later the Burnley’s goalkeeper scored an own goal to give Brighton the 1 - 1 draw.

However, Burnley bounced back with a big win over Sheffield United. Jacob Bruun Larsen and Lorenz Assignon both scored in the first half to give them the 2 - 0 lead at halftime, but Gustavo Hamer scored for The Blades early in the second half but goals from Lyle Forster and Johann Berg Gudmundsson gave Burnley the 4 - 1 win.

The trip to Old Trafford saw Antony open the scoring for Manchester United with just ten minutes to go. However, Burnley were awarded a penalty in the 87th minute and Zeki Amdouni converted from the spot to rescue a 1 - 1 draw for Burnley.

Dara O’Shea did get on the scoresheet for Burnley, but it was late on in the 86th minute and as a consolation goal. Callum Wilson, Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak all scored in the 4 - 1 win for Newcastle.

The last time out for Burnley was against Tottenham. Burnley took the lead in the 25th minute through Larsen but Pedro Porro equalised for Tottenham before halftime. With under ten minutes to go Micky van de Ven found the back of the net to give Spurs the 2 - 1 win.

In a controversial game, Forest were unable to to utilise their 60% of the possession and three shots on target. Idrissa Gueye opened the scoring on the half hour mark and Dwight McNeil secured the 2 - 0 win for Everton late on.

It was another 2 - 0 loss for Nottingham Forest, this time against Manchester City. Josko Gvardiol gave City the lead in the first half and Erling Haaland doubled the lead in the second half. Forest had just two shots on target and 33% of the possession in the 2 - 0 loss.

Ben Brereton Diaz’s penalty gave Sheffield United the lead in the 17th minute but Callum Hudson-Odoi equalised before halftime. A goal from Ryan Yates and another goal from Hudson-Odoi gave Forest the 3 - 1 win over ten-man Sheffield United, as Anel Ahmedhodzic was sent off late for The Blades.

The most recent outing for Nottingham Forest was against Chelsea. Mykhailo Mudryk opened the scoring for Chelsea in the eighth minute but Willy Boly made it level before halftime.
