          Chelsea vs Arsenal Prediction

This is a huge game for both teams, but we are expecting the points to be shared in this one. Arsenal have lost two consecutive games in all competitions, but possess a great record over Chelsea in previous meetings. The Gunners are unbeaten in the last six games between the two.

Chelsea have lost just once at home this season, and since the opening day defeat to Manchester City, they have won five and drawn two of their seven games at Stamford Bridge. However, the Blues are without a clean sheet in eight of their previous nine and both teams have scored in seven of the last nine involving the hosts. In this fixture, over 2.5 goals have been scored in five of the previous six meetings, so a high-scoring draw could be on the cards – Chelsea 2-2 Arsenal

Chelsea vs Arsenal: Preview & Prediction

Chelsea welcome Arsenal to Stamford Bridge for a huge London derby in the Premier League. Both teams are in the top five in the league table but the visitors are looking to recover from some poor recent form.

          Date: 10/11/24

          Kick-off time: 16:30

          Venue: Stamford Bridge

Arsenal came into this season with high expectations to win the Premier League after a couple of seasons of falling just short. However, 10 games in, they are already seven points adrift of leaders Liverpool and five behind Man City. It had been an impressive start to the campaign for Mikel Arteta’s side, but recent results and performances have been a cause for concern. They have lost two of their last three league games and are also winless in that stretch.

The Gunners now face a trip to London rivals Chelsea, who have perhaps exceeded early season projections. Enzo Maresca’s team sit one place above their upcoming opponents in fourth and have lost two games on the season, against City and Liverpool. They are ahead of Arsenal on goal difference. The Blues have yet to beat any ‘big six’ rivals after their draw at Man United last week, but will get another chance to do so this weekend.

It will not be straightforward for the hosts, however. They have won just two of their five league games at Stamford Bridge so far, and have yet to keep a clean sheet on their home turf. In fact, it had been eight games since they have recorded a shutout home or away before an 8-0 win in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night.

Cole Palmer is the main threat for Chelsea, having scored seven league goals. He has developed a dangerous partnership with Nicolas Jackson, who has contributed six strikes of his own. The pair could cause further issues for an Arsenal defence which has not kept a clean sheet since mid-September in the league. At the other end, Arteta will likely have the services of Martin Odegaard to call upon after over two months out. Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz have combined for seven goals this season, and the latter will be hoping to torment his former club once more.

This fixture has been rather one-sided in recent years. Chelsea have won just once in all competitions since 2020, a 2-0 win at the Emirates in 2021. Arsenal have won seven and drawn two, including an FA Cup Final victory in 2020. The Blues have not beaten Arsenal at Stamford Bridge since 2018, a 3-2 win under Maurizio Sarri. Last season, the Gunners were dominant 5-0 winners at the Emirates, whilst they drew 2-2 at Stamford Bridge. The hosts squandered a 2-0 lead late on.

          Team News

          Chelsea

Enzo Maresca will be sweating on the fitness of Cole Palmer who suffered an injury as a result of a high tackle last weekend. The availability of Jadon Sancho is also in doubt, who has missed the last few games with an illness and knock. Otherwise, Maresca should have a fully fit squad to choose from.

          Arsenal

Martin Odegaard featured briefly off the bench in Arsenal’s defeat to Inter Milan in midweek, so could play a larger role this weekend which would be a huge boost for Mikel Arteta. Declan Rice missed that game, but is believed to be ready to play with a broken toe against Chelsea.

          Form Guide

          Chelsea:

In their last five games, Chelsea have won three, drawn one and lost one. It has been a solid stretch for Chelsea in recent fixtures as they played across three different competitions. The first game of this run saw them in Europa Conference League action as they travelled to Greece to play Panathinaikos. They were 4-1 winners with goals from Joao Felix (x2), Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku.

Attention shifted back to the Premier League as they took on Newcastle for the first of two fixtures in the space of a few days. They won the league game 2-1 at home as Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer scored either side of an Alexander Isak equaliser. The Blues were then eliminated from the EFL Cup by the same opponents in a 2-0 defeat on the road.

A trip to Old Trafford resulted in a 1-1 draw last weekend. Bruno Fernandes gave the hosts the lead from the spot, but a brilliant strike from Moises Caicedo ensured the points were shared. Last time out, Chelsea hosted Armenian side Noah in the UECL, winning 8-0. Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Axel Disasi, Felix (x2), Mudryk and Nkunku (x2) were all on the scoresheet.

          Arsenal:

In their last five games, Arsenal have won two, lost two and drawn one. It has been a difficult stretch for the Gunners recently as they have fallen down the table. However, this run started with Champions League action. They were narrow 1-0 winners against Shakhtar Donetsk with an own goal providing the decisive moment.

They followed this with a huge top of the table clash with Liverpool. Arsenal had a couple of key absences, but they still managed to come away with a 2-2 draw. They took the lead twice through Bukayo Saka and Mikel Merino, but were pegged back on both occasions.

A midweek fixture saw them take on Preston in the fourth round of the EFL Cup. They beat their lower league opposition 3-0 with goals from Gabriel Jesus, Ethan Nwaneri and Kai Havertz. Last weekend they travelled to Newcastle in the league. They lost their second game of the season 1-0. Alexander Isak scored the winning goal in the first half. Their most recent game was another defeat, this time at Inter Milan. Hakan Calhanoglu scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot.
