          Chelsea vs Crystal Palace Prediction

Following Chelsea’s recent performance against Wolverhampton which has restored some renewed optimism into their season, we have them as favourites over a Crystal Palace side who are yet to register a point in the Premier League this season.
Chelsea are in magnificent form regarding the recent meetings between the two sides, having won the last 14 against Crystal Palace. Last season, the Blues recorded a 5-2 win aggregate over the Eagles, and Chelsea have been the first to score in eight of the previous ten meetings between the two teams.

Crystal Palace's honeymoon under Oliver Glasner has ended with no wins in their last seven and no clean sheet to their name in that time. Crystal Palace has been without a clean sheet against Chelsea in their previous 20 games.

We can’t look past Chelsea for this game. The Blues' strong record over Crystal Palace and their momentum following the win over Wolves will give them enough against the Eagles.

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace: Preview & Prediction

The third round of Premier League fixtures is set to unfold this weekend, a crucial juncture where early season form will start to separate the best from the rest. The spotlight is on Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea will lock horns with Crystal Palace in a high-stakes London Derby, both sides vying for the ultimate bragging rights.

          Date: 01/09/2024

          Location: Stamford Bridge

          Kick-Off: 1.30 pm

Chelsea are often under the microscope in particular regarding the bigger teams, with their transfer strategy heavily criticised and under scrutiny when it comes to other facets of the club. Todd Boehly's vision for Chelsea has somewhat been blurred by the obscene amount of transfers the club has made since the American Business Mogul purchased the club from Roman Abramovich. Chelsea has gone through managers such as Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Mauricio Pochettino. This season, the Blues are under former Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca, who had previous experience under Pep Guardiola.

Under the guidance of Enzo Maresca, Chelsea's performance on the opening day, albeit against Champions Manchester City, raised some questions. However, the most recent fixture saw a different Chelsea, as they put up a stellar show against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The credit largely goes to Noni Madueke, who single-handedly secured the first win under Maresca with a hat-trick.

The appointment of Oliver Glasner revitalised the culture and settings around Selhurst Park and left the Eagles soaring after a turbulent season. However, reality has grounded the soaring Eagles so far this season. Crystal Palace were unlucky in their defeat against Brentford in the opening game, as Eberechi Eze's free-kick was unruly disallowed, which allowed Brentford to take advantage and win 2-1.

The last meeting between the two sides ended 3-1 to Chelsea with a brace from Conor Gallagher, who has now joined Atletico Madrid.

          Form Guide

Chelsea are in magnificent form regarding the recent meetings between the two sides, having won the last 14 against Crystal Palace. Last season, the Blues recorded a 5-2 win aggregate over the Eagles, and Chelsea have been the first to score in eight of the previous ten meetings between the two teams.

Chelsea’s home form was somewhat respectable, considering the constant off-the-field issues at the club. The Blues, under Mauricio Pochettino at the time, won 11 of their 19 home games, drawing four and losing four. Chelsea obtained 37 points from a possible 57 at Stamford Bridge, which included the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in December for the Blues.

Chelsea secured the win that day thanks to goals from Mykhaylo Mudryk and a Noni Madueke 89th-minute penalty to cancel out Michael Olise’s equaliser for Crystal Palace. The Blues’ previous game was excellent for them as Noni Madueke inspired Chelsea to a 6-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers to give Enzo Maresca his first win as Chelsea boss.

Crystal Palace’s away form brought moderate success for the Eagles under Oliver Glasner last season, although they were beaten, as mentioned in this fixture last season. Last season, Crystal Palace ranked 10th in the standings for away form, having obtained 21 points from 57 available from 19 games played. The Eagles won five, drawn six and lost eight away from home.

Crystal Palace will need to show signs of improvement in their game against Chelsea following their recent London derby defeat against West Ham United. The Eagles were beaten 2-0 in their previous game thanks to goals from Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen. Crystal Palace's honeymoon under Oliver Glasner has ended with no wins in their last seven and no clean sheet to their name in that time.
