            Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Prediction

Tottenham have been in good form as of late and we expect this to continue against a struggling Crystal Palace. Palace are still chasing their first win of the season, having lost their last three games and winless in their previous four.

Spurs have scored first in four of their last five, so look for them to get off to another quick start. The hosts have failed to keep a clean sheet in their previous three. Tottenham have an excellent record against their opponents, winning the last five meetings between the pair. Spurs have scored the first goal in eight of the previous 10 games against Palace.

The Eagles have managed just two points from a possible 12 available at Selhurst Park this season, compared to Spurs winning three of their last five away fixtures in all competitions – Crystal Palace 0-2 Tottenham

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham: Preview & Prediction

Tottenham make the short trip to Crystal Palace for a London derby in the Premier League this weekend. Both sides have had contrasting fortunes this season, with the hosts still searching for a first win.

            Date: 27/10/24

            Kick-off time: 14:00

            Venue: Selhurst Park

After a slow start to the season, Tottenham have been in much better form of late. Three wins in their last four league games has seen them move up into seventh place, just three points off the top four. Their upturn in results have extended to Europe, in which they have won all three games so far. The only defeat in the last eight in all competitions came away at Brighton, where they squandered a 2-0 lead.

They will be travelling to take on Crystal Palace, who have endured a dreadful campaign. They are currently in the relegation zone and are one of four teams still without a win. Under manager Oliver Glasner, the side had great expectations coming into the season, but have not been able to string together many good performances.

The struggles of key players such as Eberechi Eze and Jean-Phillipe Mateta have not helped, especially following the departure of Michael Olise over the summer. Last season, Eze and Mateta combined for 27 goals, but this season have just three between them. They will be up against a defence who have shown weakness in defence with only two clean sheets, but Palace as a team have found the back of the net on five occasions. It will be another tough test at home to a side who come into this one with momentum.

At the other end, Spurs have had great success going forward. With 18 goals, they have scored the second most in the league, one fewer than Man City. They have scored at least twice in each of their last four league games, recording 12 in total. No player has scored more than three goals, but they have shown they have multiple threats, spreading the goals around the attack. Brennan Johnson and Heung-min Son sit at the top with three apiece, but the likes of Dominic Solanke and James Maddison have also provided key contributions.

Unsurprisingly, Tottenham have a terrific recent record against their London opponents. They are currently on a five-game winning streak and will be confident in extending this to six. Palace’s last win over Spurs came in 2021, when they were 3-0 winners at home. Last season’s fixture at Selhurst Park saw the visitors come away with a 2-1 win. A Joel Ward own goal and Son strike secured the win before a late consolation. Spurs won the reverse fixture 3-1.

            Team News

            Crystal Palace

Cheick Doucoure is nearing a return from an ankle injury, but this game should come just too soon. Matt Turner is eligible to return to the squad after sitting out against his parent club last time out. Matheus Franca remains without a time frame to come back.

            Tottenham

Djed Spence is the only player out with injury. Expect Heung-min Son to be involved and get the start. Ange Postecoglou could name an unchanged lineup to the one who beat West Ham last weekend.

            Form Guide

            Crystal Palace:

In their last five games, Crystal Palace have won one, drawn one and lost three. It has been a difficult stretch for Palace as their slow start to the season continues. This run started with EFL Cup action as they advanced with a 2-1 win at Championship side QPR. Eddie Nketiah and Eberechi Eze scored either side of a Sam Field equaliser.

A tough home fixture against Man United followed, but they were able to hold them to a goalless draw, and could have taken all three points with chances of their own. An opportunity to pick up a win came at struggling Everton, but the Toffees came out on top 2-1. Marc Guehi opened the scoring early, but a brace from Dwight McNeil turned it around. Palace then hosted Liverpool, though fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat. Diogo Jota scored the winner in the ninth minute.

Once again they had a good chance to pick up some points at Nottingham Forest, but failed to do so with a 1-0 loss. Chris Wood scored the winner in the second half with an attempt goalkeeper Dean Henderson should have dealt with.

            Tottenham:

In their last five games, Tottenham have won four and lost one. It has been a much improved run of form for Spurs following a slow start to the season. This stretch started with an impressive 3-0 win at Old Trafford against Man United, a scoreline which perhaps flattered the hosts. Brennan Johnson opened the scoring very early, before Bruno Fernandes was sent off just before the break. The visitors took advantage in the second half, adding to their lead through Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke.

They brought their momentum into their Europa League tie at Ferencvaros. Spurs won 2-1 with goals from Pape Matar Sarr and Johnson. However, their winning streak would be broken by an in-form Brighton side, who recovered from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2. Johnson and James Maddison gave Spurs an advantage, but strikes from Yankuba Minteh, Georginio Rutter and Danny Welbeck turned it around.

At the weekend, they returned to winning ways, coming from behind to beat West Ham 4-1 at home. Kulusevski, Yves Bissouma and Heung-min Son were all on the scoresheet, adding to an own goal. Their most recent game was a European tie against AZ Alkmaar, in which they won 1-0. Richarlison scored the winner from the penalty spot.
