Fulham vs Brighton Prediction

This should be a close game, but we are backing Brighton to come out on top as narrow winners. The Seagulls are performing brilliantly this season, as they sit a point above Manchester City inside the Champions League places.

The visitors are unbeaten in their previous three in all competitions. However, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their previous three. Goals should occur in this fixture, as both teams have scored in five of the last six involving Fulham and the last six involving Brighton. Fulham have only won twice in their last five home games, meanwhile Brighton have won two of their previous three on their travels – Fulham 1-2 Brighton

Fulham vs Brighton: Preview & Prediction

Fulham host Brighton in the Premier League, with both sides looking to get back to winning ways following draws last time out.

Date: 05/12/24

Kick-off time: 19:30

Venue: Craven Cottage

It has been an exceptional start to life at the club for Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler, whose side currently occupies a place in the top four of the table. The Seagulls have lost just twice all season, both against superior opposition in Liverpool and Chelsea. However, they have won just two of the last five with some disappointing dropped points along the way. This includes a 1-1 draw at home to bottom side Southampton, in which they had taken the lead.

The hosts Fulham have enjoyed a solid campaign themselves, as they settle in mid-table. Such is the congestion in the league, a win against Brighton could see them surge up the table depending on other results. Despite two games without a win, they are still just five points adrift of their upcoming opponents.

Brighton may come into this as favourites, but they will have a tough task keeping out a side who have scored in each of their last 12 league games. Fulham have scored 18 on the season, and are led by Raul Jimenez’s four goals. The trio of Alex Iwobi, Emile Smith Rowe and Harry Wilson have seen an upturn in form as of late, with nine goals combined between them. The Seagulls have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last six in all competitions, so there could be areas to exploit.

Whilst they may have some struggles at the back, Brighton have plenty of talent to hurt Fulham in attack. Like their hosts, they have been in good scoring form, finding the back of the net in each of their last nine. Danny Welbeck is their top scorer with six, followed by Joao Pedro and Kaoru Mitoma who have scored four and three goals respectively. Mitoma is slowly returning to form with a goal in each of his last two games. Fulham have kept one clean sheet in their last seven.

There have been eight Premier League meetings between these two sides since 2018. Fulham have been superior, not tasting defeat in the top flight against their opponents. However, Brighton were the winners of five in a row prior to their promotion. They have picked up just four points from a possible 24 since. Last season, The Seagulls drew 1-1 at home, though were 3-0 losers in the reverse fixture at Craven Cottage. Harry Wilson, Rodrigo Muniz and Adama Traore were the goalscorers.

Team News

Fulham

Fulham do not have many injuries to contend with. Harrison Reed is out following knee surgery and is not expected back until January. Joachim Anderson is nearing a return this month but this game comes too soon. Tom Cairney will miss out through suspension after getting sent off last time out.

Brighton

Brighton could be boosted by the returns of Ferdi Kadioglu, Adam Webster and Jack Hinshelwood from injuries. Carlos Baleba will be eligible to return following suspension. Joel Veltman and James Milner are further behind in their recoveries.

Form Guide

Fulham:

In their last five games, Fulham have won two, drawn two and lost one. It has been a strong stretch for Fulham, as they have picked up some big results. This run began with a 1-1 draw at struggling Everton. Alex Iwobi gave Fulham the lead with half an hour to go, but they could not hold on with Beto scoring a 94th minute equaliser for The Toffees.

They responded well to this setback with a 2-1 home win over West London rivals Brentford. However, it took some late heroics from Harry Wilson as he netted twice in stoppage time to steal three points after The Bees held the lead for the majority of the game.

Victory at Crystal Palace made it two wins in a row, with Emile Smith Rowe and Wilson both on the scoresheet. However, they were then condemned to a crushing 4-1 home defeat by Wolves. Fulham took the lead through Iwobi, but fell apart in the second half as their visitors took control. Last time out they travelled to Tottenham, in which they drew 1-1. They fell behind to a Brennan Johnson goal, but Tom Cairney equalised before being sent off late on.

Brighton:

In their last five games, Brighton have won two, lost two and drawn one. It has been a solid stretch for the Seagulls in recent weeks, though their latest game resulted in dropped points at home. They drew 1-1 with Southampton after Flynn Downes cancelled out Kaoru Mitoma’s opener.

A 2-1 win at Bournemouth preceded this. Joao Pedro and Kaoru Mitoma were their goalscorers. Before the international break they pulled off a huge come-from-behind win at home to Man City. Erling Haaland had given the Champions the lead, but two goals in the space of five minutes from Joao Pedro and Matt O’Riley gave The Seagulls a late win.

This run started with a pair of defeats against Liverpool in the EFL Cup and Premier League. They were eliminated in the fourth round of the Cup after a 3-2 loss. Liverpool took a 2-0 lead before the Seagulls pulled one back, then the two teams exchanged goals once more. The Premier League fixture saw them defeated 2-1 at Anfield. Ferdi Kadıoğlu opened the scoring for Brighton, but two goals in as many minutes in the second half turned the game on its head.
