Fulham vs Newcastle Prediction & Betting Tips

Newcastle make the trip to West London to take on Fulham this Saturday in the Premier League. The Magpies are looking for a spot back in Europe next season whereas Fulham are eyeing a spot in the top half of the table.

            Date: 06/04/2024

            Kick off time: 15:00

            Location: Craven Cottage

Although Champions League football may be out of reach for Newcastle now, the race for Europa League or Conference League football is much closer. As is the race for the top ten, Fulham closing in on Chelsea and Wolves.

Fulham currently sit 13th in the Premier League after 31 games. The Cottagers have 11 wins, six draws and 14 losses, leaving them on 39 points, just three points from the top half of the table.

The Cottagers have been impressive in front of goal this season, scoring 47 goals and having an average of 1.51 goals a game. Fulham have also been consistent in defence, conceding 50 goals and keeping eight clean sheets.

Newcastle sit just above Fulham in eighth in the Premier League. In 30 games, The Magpies have 13 wins, five draws and 12 losses which leaves them on 44 points, six points from sixth-placed Manchester United.

The Magpies have also been rampant in attack, scoring 64 goals which gives them an average of 2.13 goals a game. Newcastle have been poor at the other end of the pitch, conceding 52 goals and keeping eight clean sheets.

This will be the 80th meeting between Fulham and Newcastle, with the first meeting coming all the way back in the 1908 FA Cup. Not much separates the two sides with Newcastle having 33 wins in comparison to Fulham’s 31 wins, the other 15 games ending in a draw.

The last five games in this fixture have seen a Newcastle win, with Fulham without a win in this fixture since 2017. This fixture usually sees a shutout with only one team on the scoresheet in four of the last five games.

Marco Silva has a fully fit squad currently, but, it will certainly be interesting to see the Portuguese manager's line-up though following his side's 3-1 loss at Nottingham Forest. The Ex-Everton manager made a triple substitution after just 33 minutes, substituting Harry Wilson, Sasa Lukic and Alexander Iwobi for Willian, Tom Cairney and Adama Traore.

Eddie Howe, on the other hand, will be missing Sven Botman, Sandro Tonali, Lewis Miley, Callum Wilson, Joelinton, Nick Pope, Jamaal Lascelles, Valentino Livramento and Miguel Almiron. However, Anthon Gordon and Kieran Trippier could return this weekend.

            Recent Form

In their last six games in all competitions, Fulham have three wins, one draw and two losses.

After a goalless first half, Calvin Bassey opened the scoring for Fulham just after the hour mark. Harry Maguire thought he had rescued a point for Manchester United with his goal in the 89th minute but a 97th minute goal from Alex Iwobi grabbed a 2 - 1 win for Fulham.

Fulham continued this good form back at Craven Cottage against Brighton. Despite having just 29% of the possession, Harry Wilson, Rodrigo Muniz and Adama Traore all scored in the 3 - 0 win for Fulham.

However, the trip to the Molineux was one to forget. Iwobi was amongst the late goals again, this time finding the back of the net in the 98th minute, but a goal from Rayan Ait-Nouri and an own goal from Tom Cairney gave Wolves a 2 - 1 win.

The Cottagers bounced back in a big way with their first win against Tottenham at home in the Premier League since 2008. Muniz was on the scoresheet again for Fulham, bagging two, and was joined by Sasa Lukic in a big 3 - 0 win.

Ben Brereton Diaz opened the scoring for Sheffield United just before the hour mark but Joao Palhinha equalised for Fulham just minutes later. However, another goal from Diaz and a goal from Oli McBurnie gave The Blades the 3 - 1 lead with 20 minutes to go. Bobby De Cordova-Reid scored in the 86th minute and Muniz scored in the 93rd minute to rescue a 3 - 3 draw for Fulham.

Fulham suffered a 3-1 defeat away at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night, in a game where Marco Silva was visibly unhappy as his side were 3-0 down at half time following goals by Callum Hudson-Odoi, Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White before Tosin Adarabioyo pulled back a 49th-minute consolation goal for the Cottagers.

In their last six games in all competitions, Newcastle have three wins, one draw and two losses.

In the Fifth Round of the FA Cup, Newcastle made the trip to Championship side Blackburn Rovers. Gordon finally opened the scoring in the 71st minute but a goal from Sammie Szmodics equalised for Blackburn just eight minutes later. A goalless extra time sent the tie to penalties and misses from Dominic Hyam and Szmodics gave Newcastle the 4 - 3 win.

Back in the Premier League, Newcastle hosted Wolves. Alexander Isak and Gordon gave The Magpies the 2 - 0 lead at halftime. Livramento then added a third in the 92nd minute to give Newcastle a 3 - 0 win.

The trip to Stamford Bridge saw Nicolas Jackson open the scoring early in the sixth minute, though Isak did draw Newcastle level just before halftime. Even with a late effort from Jacob Murphy, goals from Cole Palmer and Mykhailo Mudryk secured a 3 - 2 win for Chelsea.

The Quarter Finals of the FA Cup saw Newcastle taking on fellow Premier League side Manchester City. Bernardo Silva scored both goals in the first half as Newcastle slumped to a 2 - 0 loss, managing only one shot on target and 27% of the possession.

A penalty from Isak gave Newcastle the lead in the sixth minute but goals from Michail Antonio and Mohammed Kudus gave West Ham the 2 - 1 lead at halftime. Jarrod Bowen added a third just minutes into the second half but another penalty from Isak and a brace from Harvey Barnes gave Newcastle the 4 - 3 comeback win despite the red card to Gordon late on.

Newcastle were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton on Tuesday night at St James' Park as Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored an 87th-minute penalty for the Toffees to cancel out Alexander Isak's first half opener.
