            Fulham vs Newcastle Prediction

Newcastle are looking to continue their strong start to the season after another win against Wolves and we are backing them to do so with victory at Fulham. The Magpies are on a six-game winning run against their hosts, with no losses in their previous nine against the Cottagers.

The visitors have not conceded a single goal in their last four meetings with Fulham, and Marco Silva’s side are chasing a first clean sheet in eight against Newcastle. Eddie Howe’s team were the first to score in the previous six meetings, so look for them to make a quick start once more. However, this does not tend to be a high-scoring fixture, with five of the last seven failing to reach over 2.5 goals - Fulham 0-2 Newcastle

Fulham vs Newcastle: Preview & Prediction

Newcastle make the trip to London to take on Fulham, with the visitors looking to continue a very strong start to the season.

            Date: 21/09/24

            Kick-off time: 15:00

            Venue: Craven Cottage

Fulham were denied their second win of the season at the death of their last game against West Ham, as Danny Ings scored a stoppage time equaliser to draw 1-1. It is a result that leaves the club in 12th as they look to improve on last season’s 13th place finish. This followed a win, a draw and a loss in their first three.

They will be hosting a Newcastle side who are aiming to return to Europe after they missed out in seventh. Last season they were playing in the Champions League, a stage where they feel they belong. It has been an excellent start to the campaign for Eddie Howe’s men, giving them confidence that they will be able to fight for a top four finish. They are currently in second with 10 points after a third win against Wolves last time out. They had to come from behind to secure the three points.

The hosts have scored four and conceded four so far. Despite no clean sheets, they have not allowed more than one goal in any of their games. However, this will perhaps be their toughest test of the season. Newcastle possess several dangerous threats in attack, none more so than striker Alexander Isak. Only Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer scored more than Isak’s 21 goals last season. He is supported by the likes of Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes and the trio have all found the net already this campaign.

Marco Silva’s Fulham side have plenty of talent of their own, and will look to breach a defence which has only conceded three goals. They added Emile Smith-Rowe to their team over the summer, and the Englishman has already made an impact with a goal and assist in four games. Rodrigo Muniz was the club’s top scorer last year with nine, but has yet to find the net this campaign.

Historically, there has not been much to split these two sides, with Fulham producing 31 wins and Newcastle recording 34. However, in recent seasons it has been utter dominance from Newcastle, as they are unbeaten in the last nine meetings between the two sides in all competitions. The Magpies are currently on a six-game winning streak against their opponents, with one of these an FA Cup tie from last season. The visitors did the double over Fulham with a 1-0 win at Craven Cottage their latest matchup. Bruno Guimaraes scored an 81st minute winner in this game. Fulham’s last win in this fixture came all the way back in 2017 when both teams were in the Championship. They won the game 3-1 at St James’ Park.

            Where to Watch

Fulham vs Newcastle will not be available to watch on TV in the UK.

            Team News

            Fulham

Carlos Vinicius is the only player ruled out for this game. He is nursing a calf injury which is expected to keep him out for the next couple of weeks. Fulham should have a fully fit squad otherwise.

            Newcastle

Alexander Isak was taken off at half-time in the last game so his status will be monitored. Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles remain out with serious knee injuries. Lewis Miley is expected to return in mid-October, whilst Callum Wilson’s back injury may keep him out until later this month.

            Form Guide

            Fulham:

In their last five games, Fulham have won two, drawn two and lost one. It has been a solid start to the season for Fulham, but they were defeated 1-0 by Manchester United in their Premier League opener. They felt they should have left with more, but lost to a late Joshua Zirkzee winner.

A home game against Leicester allowed them to get back on track, as they won 2-1 against the newly promoted side. Emile Smith-Rowe opened the scoring before Wout Faes levelled it before the break. Alex Iwobi netted the winning goal with 20 minutes to go. Attention shifted to EFL Cup action, and they took on Birmingham. Away from home, they were 2-0 winners to advance to the third round. Raul Jimenez and Jay Stansfield were the scorers.

Ipswich were their next opponents in the league. Liam Delap gave his side the lead early, but Adama Traore found the back of the net to ensure the points were shared. Their latest game was a home London Derby against West Ham. They were denied a win in second-half stoppage time as Danny Ings cancelled out a Jimenez opener.

            Newcastle:

In their last five games, Newcastle have won three and drawn two. The Magpies have had a good start to the season, beginning with a 1-0 win against newly promoted Southampton at home. They suffered an early setback as centre back Fabian Schar was shown a straight red for a head-butt on his opponent. However, it did not deter the hosts as they took the lead through Joelinton on the stroke of half-time. They allowed few chances in the second half, and managed to hold on for the win.

They picked up a point in their next game away at Bournemouth. They fell behind to a Marcus Tavernier goal, but equalised through Anthony Gordon with 13 minutes to go. Attention shifted to the EFL Cup, in which they faced fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest. Joe Willock scored in the opening minute of the game, but Jota Silva levelled it to send it to penalties. Newcastle advanced 4-3 on spot-kicks.

Prior to the international break they hosted Tottenham. They were 2-1 winners, with goals from Harvey Barnes and Alexander Isak coming either side of a Dan Burn own goal. In their last game, Newcastle travelled to Wolves. They won 2-1, after strikes from Schar and Harvey Barnes turned it around.
