        Ipswich vs Leicester Prediction

This is an intriguing fixture between two relegation candidates, and we are backing the visitors Leicester to come away with a huge win and extend Ipswich’s dreadful start. Ipswich are still searching for their first win of the Premier League season, having failed to register a win in their first nine games back in the division since 2002.

The Tractor Boys have lost their previous three games and have recorded no wins in their last 10 in all competitions – including a penalty shootout loss to AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Cup. The hosts are without a clean sheet in their previous five.

Leicester have steadied their early season fortunes and have recorded eight points from their last 12 points available. Both teams have scored in four of the previous five involving Ipswich, and six of the last eight involving Leicester. The Foxes have the superior advantage in this fixture, as they are unbeaten in the previous four meetings between the two teams – Ipswich 1-2 Leicester

Ipswich vs Leicester: Preview & Prediction

Ipswich welcome Leicester to Portman Road in the Premier League, as both teams search for three points in what is a crucial bottom-of-the-table clash.

        Date: 02/11/24

        Kick-off time: 15:00

        Venue: Portman Road

Both teams earned promotion back to the Premier League last season, Leicester as champions, and Ipswich as runners-up. It has been a tough return to life in the top flight for both, though Ipswich have found themselves in deeper trouble. Kieran McKenna’s side are still seeking their first win of the season and sit in the relegation zone with four points. They remain one of three teams who have yet to record three points.

Leicester will also spend the season fighting for survival, but have earned themselves some early breathing room with two wins so far. This leaves them in 15th with nine points, five clear of their upcoming opponents. A loss to Ipswich will have the Foxes back within sight for the hosts.

This game could present an opportunity for both sides to achieve some attacking success. Ipswich have conceded 20 goals so far, which is the second most in the league. Leicester have allowed 17. If they are to threaten, the hosts will lean on the talents of Liam Delap, who has enjoyed an excellent individual campaign with five goals. He will look to take his chances against a defence who have kept one league clean sheet all season.

It will be a similar story for the visitors, who will try and breach a vulnerable backline which has conceded at least twice in each of the last four games. Jamie Vardy leads the way for the Foxes with four goals, closely followed by Facundo Buonanotte with three.

Meetings have been rare between these two sides in recent history, with a pair of league games in the Championship last season the first in 10 years. Both fixtures ended in 1-1 draws. The game at Portman Road saw a stoppage time equaliser for Sam Morsy, cancelling out a Stephy Mavididi first half goal.

        Form Guide

        Ipswich:

In their last five games, Ipswich have drawn two and lost three. It has been a tough start to the season for Ipswich in which they remain winless. The latest defeat was a heartbreaker away at Brentford. They fell to a 4-3 loss despite taking a 2-0 lead. The Bees responded to go into the break level before going in front shortly after the restart. Down to 10 men, the visitors levelled it at 3-3, but Bryan Mbeumo scored his second of the game in stoppage to steal three points.

This followed a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Everton. Iliman Ndiaye and Michael Keane were the first half scorers for the Toffees. A 4-1 loss at West Ham saw both sides exchange goals in the opening six minutes, but the Hammers ran away with the game with strikes from Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta.

The first two games of this stretch ended in draws, the first of which was a 1-1 at Southampton. Tyler Dibling had given the Saints the lead early, but Sam Morsy salvaged a point for his side in the fifth minute of added time. They held Aston Villa to a 2-2 draw as both sides gave up leads. Liam Delap scored a brace for Ipswich.

        Leicester:

In their last five games, Leicester have won two and lost three. It has been a tough return to life in the Premier League for the Foxes, and this run started with a tough 4-2 defeat away at Arsenal. The hosts had taken a 2-0 lead through Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, but Leicester responded excellently with a brace from James Justin. It looked as though they were going to come away with an unlikely point, however an own goal by Wilfred Ndidi and a Kai Havertz strike stole the three points at the death.

The Foxes picked up their first win of the season against Bournemouth, winning 1-0. Facundo Buonanotte scored the winner after 16 minutes. They made it two in a row with a stunning comeback victory at Southampton. The Saints were 2-0 up, before Buonanotte and Jamie Vardy pegged them back at 2-2. With 10 men, the hosts could not hold on as Jordan Ayew scored a 98th minute winner.

A 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest meant they could not continue their momentum. Vardy had cancelled out an early opener, but a Chris Wood brace shifted the game in the visitors’ favour. Their most recent game was a fourth round EFL Cup tie at Old Trafford against Man United, in which they lost 5-2 and were eliminated. Bilal El Khannouss and Conor Coady were their goalscorers.
