            Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest Prediction

Liverpool have enjoyed a perfect start to the season and we expect this to continue at home to Nottingham Forest. Forest have made a good start themselves but come into this game as huge underdogs. The Reds are in fantastic form with no losses in their last 12. They have won all three games, including a 3-0 victory at Man United last time out.

The hosts have kept four clean sheets and are unbeaten in their last three against Forest. They have also been the first to score in four of the previous five meetings between the two sides. Mo Salah has started the season in excellent fashion, with six goal contributions in his first three games – Liverpool 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest: Preview & Prediction

Liverpool take on Nottingham Forest at Anfield in the Premier League, looking to continue their perfect start to the season.

            Date: 14/09/24

            Kick-off time: 15:00

            Venue: Anfield

It has been a dream start to life at Liverpool for new manager Arne Slot, who took over from Jurgen Klopp over the summer. The Reds sit second in the table with three wins from three, behind Man City on goal difference. Their wins have been dominant, scoring seven goals across the victories and keeping three clean sheets. Led at the back by Virgil van Dijk and Alisson in goal, the side have excelled at both ends of the pitch.

There was plenty of discussion surrounding Liverpool’s lack of transfer activity, but their trusted and most experienced players have been getting the job done. Mo Salah and Luis Diaz have scored three goals each, whilst Salah has also contributed four assists. Their dominant start includes a 3-0 win at Old Trafford against Man United.

They will take on a Nottingham Forest side who, despite having a solid start themselves, they will be confident in picking up three points against. Forest currently sits ninth in the table with a win and two draws. Although they have yet to be beaten, they face their biggest test this weekend. In three league games, they have conceded just two goals, but have scored only three. Chris Wood has two of them, and he is continuing from a strong campaign last year in which he led the way for the club with 14 goals.

Forest finished 17th last year, six points clear of safety. They will be looking to survive much more comfortably this time around, and have made several transfers to give them the best opportunity to do so. Elliott Anderson was their priciest addition, whilst they also signed James Ward-Prowse on loan from West Ham. In contrast, Liverpool will be hoping to be involved in the title race after finishing third and nine points adrift from Man City.

Since Forest’s return to the Premier League in 2022, the pair have met four times. As expected these games have been dominated by Liverpool, with three wins to one. The one victory for Forest came in their first meeting back in the top flight, a 1-0 victory at the City Ground. Taiwo Awoniyi scored the winner in the 55th minute. Last season, Liverpool did the double, winning 1-0 away from home and 3-0 at Anfield. Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah were all on the scoresheet.

            Team News

            Liverpool

Liverpool could be handed a big boost as Curtis Jones is nearing a return to the squad. New signing Federico Chiesa is in contention to make his debut, whilst Alexis Mac Allister is a doubt after being substituted with an injury concern during the international break.

            Nottingham Forest

Forest should have a mostly fit squad to choose from this weekend. The only notable absentee is Danilo, who is out long-term after suffering a severe ankle injury on the opening day of the season.

            Form Guide

            Liverpool:

In their last five games, Liverpool have won four and drawn one. It was a strong pre-season for the Reds as they entered the campaign with a new man at the helm. They made the perfect start, beating newly promoted Ipswich Town 2-0 away from home. They were held goalless at the break, but second-half goals from Diogo Jota and Mo Salah secured the three points.

They followed this with another 2-0 win, this time at home to Brentford. Luis Diaz and Salah were the scorers. Last time out, they faced rivals Man United at Old Trafford. Their dominant start continued with a 3-0 win. Diaz scored twice, whilst Salah netted once more.

For their final games of pre-season, they used a split squad to play two games in one day. One ended in a goalless draw against Las Palmas, whilst another side beat Sevilla 4-1. Jota and Trey Nyoni added to a Diaz brace.

            Nottingham Forest:

In their last five games, Nottingham Forest have won two and drawn three. It has been a good stretch for Forest as they have yet to be beaten in the league. It continued a strong end to pre-season in which they beat Olympiakos 4-3. Their first game of the season was a home game against Bournemouth. Chris Wood had given them the lead midway through the first half, but they were denied three points late on by Antoine Semenyo.

The first win of the campaign came in the second game as they travelled to newly promoted Southampton. Despite enjoying less of the ball, Forest created more chances, eventually taking one late with a Morgan Gibbs-White strike.

Two 1-1 draws followed, firstly in the EFL Cup against Newcastle. Joe Willock put the visitors ahead after just one minute, but this was cancelled out by Jota Silva. However, Forest were defeated on penalties. Their most recent game was a draw at Wolves. Wood scored 10 minutes in, though they were pegged back two minutes later.
