          Manchester United vs Chelsea Prediction

The Red Devils continue in the post-Erik ten Hag era with a difficult game against in-form Chelsea in this heavyweight clash. Enzo Maresca’s side have impressed this season and have lost only once on the road in the League under his watch thus far.

However, Chelsea have not won at Old Trafford in the Premier League since 2013. The record Chelsea possesses at Old Trafford in recent years doesn't bode well for Enzo Maresca's side.

The hosts could see significant improvement in their side following the recent dismissal of Erik Ten Hag as this was seen against Leicester in the EFL Cup scoring 5 goals. Combining this with Chelsea’s winless run at Old Trafford, as well as both teams scoring in four of the previous five involving Manchester United and each of the last six involving Chelsea, we see United slightly edging this one. - (Man United 2-1 Chelsea)

Manchester United vs Chelsea Preview & Prediction

With the sacking of Erik ten Hag and Manager Ruben Amorim waiting to be announced as the new manager to take over the Red Devils, it's unclear if he will be in charge before this Super Sunday clash.

          Date: 03/11/2024

          Kick off: 16:30

          Venue: Old Trafford

The Red Devils opted to support manager Erik ten Hag over the summer, a choice that hasn’t appeared to yield positive results recently which ultimately led to his dismissal after his 2-1 loss against West Ham. United will certainly be lifted by their midweek result, and it’s possible that Van Nistelrooy could experience a new manager bounce for however long he is in charge.

United currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League table after nine matches, having won two and lost two of their four home fixtures in the league. However, following the recent dismissal of Erik ten Hag, the hosts have seen an immediate response from the players which was seen against Leicester in the EFL Cup scoring 5 goals.

Despite the apparent league position and points differential between the two teams heading into this game, the record Chelsea possesses at Old Trafford in recent years doesn't bode well for Enzo Maresca's side. Chelsea have not won at Old Trafford in the Premier League since 2013, when former Manchester United player Juan Mata scored the only goal in this fixture the last time Chelsea won at Old Trafford.

Neither side has kept a clean sheet in their last three in the Premier League, as well as their most recent cup tie’s with both teams scoring in four of the previous five involving Manchester United and each of the last six involving Chelsea. In this fixture, neither side has kept a clean sheet in the last six meetings between the two sides, with both teams scoring in each fixture across the six played.

          Manchester United

Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Mason Mount, Antony and Harry Maguire are all expected to miss out on Sunday. Noussair Mazraoui should be available after shaking off a knock. Leny Yoro has returned to the grass with his return imminent, however Sunday’s clash should come too soon for the Frenchman.

          Chelsea

Chelsea are anticipated to make significant changes to the squad that lost to Newcastle, with all of Maresca's key players likely to return. Jadon Sancho, however, will be ineligible to face his former club.

          Manchester United

Before the international break, United faced Aston Villa in a lackluster match at Villa Park, earning a crucial point against the Champions League surprise package in Aston Villa.

Upon returning to club football after the break, Manchester United found themselves in disarray as Ethan Pinnock headed Brentford into the lead at Old Trafford, with Matthijs de Ligt off the pitch receiving treatment at the time. However, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund turned things around for Ten Hag, delivering a strong second-half performance.

United managed to hold on for a 1-1 draw in Istanbul on the following Thursday in the Europa League, remaining winless in the competition thus far. They initially took the lead against former manager Jose Mourinho with a Christian Eriksen goal in the first half, but Youssef En-Nesyri equalised for the hosts shortly after halftime, this then led to Mourinho receiving a red card for protesting after Fenerbahce was denied a penalty.

In United’s trip to the London Stadium, Casemiro believed he had secured a point for the visitors when he headed in an equaliser with under 10 minutes remaining, responding to Crysencio Summerville's opener in the 74th minute. However, Jarrod Bowen converted a penalty in injury time, sealing a 2-1 defeat for Manchester United. United were left furious after referee David Coote was directed to the pitchside monitor by the video assistant referee to review Matthijs de Ligt's challenge on Danny Ings in the box.

The defeat to West Ham proved to be the final straw for Erik ten Hag, leading to Ruud van Nistelrooy taking charge for the Carabao Cup match against Leicester on Wednesday night. Manchester United advanced to the quarter-finals with an impressive 5-2 victory after being ahead 4-2 at half time, thanks

to two goals from Casemiro and goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes. Leicester managed to score twice, with goals from Bilal El Khannouss and Conor Coady, however, United sealed the win just before the hour mark with a second goal from Fernandes.

          Chelsea

In the last 5 games, a home game against Nottingham Forest would be the Challenge for the Blues. It wouldn't be an easy day for Chelsea with Chris Wood grabbing the lead for the visitors in the 49th minute. However, Noni Madueke would clinch a point for Chelsea 8 minutes later in a highly competitive match.

Chelsea would then have another tough challenge of travelling to Anfield. While the Blues would have a good showing in the match, Liverpool would be too much for this young side, a first half penalty showed the inexperience of this side which Salah later converted. Nicolas Jackson would grab an equaliser in the 48th minute before Curtis Jones reclaimed the lead 3 minutes later.

A midweek Europa Conference League tie would follow against Panathinaikos, where Chelsea showed their potential as a squad Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk would grab two first half goals. Felix would grab his second of the game in the 55th minute with Nkunku scoring a penalty 4 minutes later to carry on their european charge.

Another match-winning display from Cole Palmer and his seventh goal of the season ensured the victory at Stamford Bridge in their double header against Newcastle. Palmer, who is unplayable at his best, contributed brilliantly to Nicolas Jackson’s opener. While Isak managed to bring the magpies level before half time, just two minutes into the second half Palmer grabbed the winning goal for Chelsea.

Enzo Maresca implemented a vast amount of changes midweek as the Blues were eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Newcastle, part of their double-header against the Magpies. Eleven alterations were made to the team that had defeated the same opponents just days earlier. Goals from Alexander Isak and an Axel Diasi own goal in the first 26 minutes would be enough for the Magpies to get their revenge.
