Manchester United host Everton at Old Trafford in the early Saturday kick-off in the Premier League. United are looking to reel in Tottenham and European football whereas Everton are on the climb after their points deduction was reduced.
Not much separates the clubs in the fight for European football, with United in desperate need of a three-point haul to continue their pursuit of Tottenham. Everton are now out of the relegation zone but will be looking for a win to bridge that gap even more.
Manchester United currently sit sixth in the Premier League after 27 games. The Red Devils have 14 wins, two draws and 11 losses, leaving them on 44 points, two points above West Ham and six points behind Tottenham, who have a game in hand.
The Red Devils have struggled in front of goal this season, scoring 36 goals in 27 games, an average of just 1.38 goals a game. United have been much better defensively, conceding 36 goals and keeping seven clean sheets.
Everton, on the other hand, currently sit 16th in the Premier League. In 27 games, The Toffees have eight wins, seven draws and 12 losses which leaves them on 25 points, five points above the relegation zone.
The Toffees have also struggled in attack this season. In 27 games, Everton have scored 29 games, an average of just 1.07 goals a game. Everton are also much better at the other end of the pitch, conceding 37 goals and keeping eight clean sheets.
Manchester United and Everton have a storied history, having met 212 times in their histories, the first coming back in 1892. The Red Devils have the better record in the fixture with 94 wins in comparison to Everton’s 71 wins, the other 47 games ending in a draw.
In the last five games in the fixture, United have four wins and Everton have just one, coming back in 2022. However, in the last seven games, four of them have had both teams on the scoresheet.
