Manchester United vs Fulham: Betting Tips, Match Prediction & Preview

Manchester United welcome Fulham to Old Trafford this Saturday in the Premier League. The hosts will be looking for three points in their hunt down a shot at European football next season whereas Fulham will be hoping to get back into the top half of the table.

          Date: 24/02/2024

          Kick-off time: 15:00

          Location: Old Trafford

Fulham need three points this weekend to avoid slipping further out of the race for a top-half finish, whereas United are within touching distance of Tottenham and may even Aston Villa.

Manchester United currently sit sixth in the Premier League after 25 games. United have 14 wins, two draws and nine losses, leaving them on 44 points, just three points behind Tottenham and five points behind Aston Villa.

United have been lacking in front of goal for most of this season, scoring 35 goals in 25 games, giving them an average of 1.4 goals a game. However, at the other end of the pitch, United have been much better. In 25 games, United have conceded just 34 goals and have kept seven clean sheets.

Fulham, on the other hand, currently sit 12th in the Premier League. In 25 games, Fulham have eight wins, five draws and 12 losses which leaves them on 29 points, already six points behind Chelsea in tenth.

The Cottagers have been middle of the pack in front of goal, scoring 34 goals in 25 games, giving them an average of 1.36 goals a game. At the other end of the pitch, Fulham have been a little better. In 25 games, Fulham have conceded 41 goals and have kept six clean sheets.

Manchester United and Fulham have met 90 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming back in 1905. United have a far better record in the fixture with 56 wins in comparison to Fulham’s 14 wins, the other 20 games ending in a draw.

Fulham haven’t beaten United since 2009, with only two draws since 2014. Also, other than the most recent meeting between the two, this fixture has had both teams on the scoresheet in every game since 2019.

          Team News

          Manchester United Team News

Erik Ten Hag may be without Mason Mount, Anthony Martial, Lisandro Martinez, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tyrell Malacia. This week it has been revealed that Luke Shaw will be out of action for around three months following the reoccurrence of a hamstring injury - Gareth Southgate will be hoping that he will be available for Euro 2024. There is a high possibility that Victor Lindelof or Sofyan Amrabat could line-up at left-back or even a senior debut for the likes of Harry Amass.

          Fulham Team News

Marco Silva could be missing Matthew Dibley-Dias, Raul Jimenez, Kenny Tete and Armando Broja this weekend. Joao Palhinha is suspended for this match having picked up his 10th yellow card of the season in the Cottagers' 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend.

          Form Guide (Last Five Games)

In their last five games in all competitions, Manchester United have five wins.

In the Fourth Round of the FA Cup, Manchester United took on League Two Newport County. Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo gave United the early 2 - 0 lead, but goals from Bryn Morris and Will Evans made it 2 - 2 just after halftime. However, Antony and Rasmus Hojlund both scored to give United the 4 - 2 win.

Back in the Premier League, it was another goal-fest, this time seven goals in their game against Wolves. Marcus Rashford and Hojlund gave United the 2 - 0 lead at halftime, but a penalty from Pablo Sarabia got Wolves in the game. Scott McTominay regained the two-goal cushion but Max Kilman and Pedro Neto drew Wolves level deep into extra time. Mainoo popped up with a goal in the 97th minute to give United the 4 - 3 win.

Hojlund was on the scoresheet yet again against West Ham along with a brace from Alejandro Garnacho in the 3 - 0 win over West Ham.

The trip to Villa Park saw yet another goal from Hojlund to give United the 1 - 0 lead at halftime. Douglas Luiz drew Aston Villa level in the second half but an 86th-minute goal from McTominay gave United the 2 - 1 win.

The last time out for United was against Luton Town. An early brace from Hojlund saw Man United hold on for a 2 - 1 win, even with Carlton Morris’ first-half goal.

In their last five games in all competitions, Fulham have one win, two draws and two losses.

In the Fourth Round of the FA Cup, Fulham hosted Newcastle in an all-Premier League tie. Sean Longstaff gave Newcastle the lead at halftime but a goal from Dan Burn secured the 2 - 0 win for The Magpies.

Back in the Premier League, Fulham took on Everton. Fulham had 25 shots with six shots on target with 70% of the possession but was unable to find a goal in a 0 - 0 draw.

It was another draw for Fulham, this time against Burnley. Joao Palhinha and Rodrigo Muniz both scored in the first half to give Fulham the 2 - 0 lead at halftime. David Datro Fofana scored twice late on to grab a 2 - 2 draw for Burnley.

Fulham bounced back against Bournemouth. Bobby De Cordova-Reid opened the scoring for Fulham and Muniz’s first goal gave Fulham the 2 - 0 lead at halftime. Marcos Senesi got Bournemouth into the game but Muniz’s second goal secured a 3 - 1 win for Fulham.

The most recent outing for Fulham came against Aston Villa. Ollie Watkins grabbed a brace to give Villa the lead and even with Muniz’s goal, Villa held on for the 2 - 1 win.
