Nottingham Forest vs Fulham Prediction

Nottingham Forest are looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season, and we expect them to do so but drop points at home to Fulham. The visitors have an impressive record at the City Ground with four wins in the last five meetings. However, Forest’s strong displays so far should lead to better fortunes.

Fulham are without a clean sheet in their last four, whilst Forest have scored first in five of their previous six. These two teams do not provide goals regularly with less than 2.5 goals scored in five of the last fixtures involving Forest and six of the last seven involving Fulham. Both of Forest’s home fixtures this season have ended 1-1 and we back this trend to continue – Nottingham Forest 1-1 Fulham

Nottingham Forest vs Fulham: Preview & Prediction

Nottingham Forest host Fulham at the City Ground looking to continue their very impressive start to the Premier League season.

Date: 28/09/24

Kick-off time: 15:00

Venue: City Ground

After five games, Nottingham Forest remain one of four teams yet to taste defeat in the league this season. This has them in eighth place with nine points following two wins and three draws. Making this achievement even more remarkable is the fact that one of these victories came away at Anfield against Liverpool. It was a narrow 1-0 win with a winner from Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Fulham are the visitors, and they have endured a similarly solid start to the campaign. They sit just one place below their opponents with eight points. Marco Silva’s side have lost one game which came at Man United on the opening weekend. Their latest outing was a big 3-1 win at home to European challengers Newcastle.

However, goals may be at a premium in this fixture with a tight game on the cards. Forest have conceded just four goals whilst Fulham have allowed five. The hosts will be without a very key player in Morgan Gibbs-White who will miss out through suspension. They will look to Chris Wood to provide a scoring threat, and he has made a good start to the season with three goals already. He led the way with 14 goals last season.

The visitors have some dangerous threats of their own, particularly Emile Smith-Rowe who made the switch across London from Arsenal in the summer. The Englishman has scored two league goals for his new side. Raul Jimenez is also proving to be a reliable option up top with a pair of goals.

Since 2017, these two teams have played against each other 11 times, the majority of these meetings in the Championship. Fulham have been the superior side, winning eight of these games and losing three. The visiting side have won four of the last five games at the City Ground, though their one defeat came in the latest meeting at the end of last season. Forest were 3-1 winners at home, with goals from Hudson-Odoi, Wood and Gibbs-White giving them a commanding 3-0 lead. Tosin Adarabioyo bagged a consolation for his side. Fulham won the reverse fixture 5-0 at home.

Form Guide

Nottingham Forest

In their last five games, Nottingham Forest have won two and drawn three. It has been an impressive stretch for Forest as they have yet to be beaten in the league. The first win of the campaign came in the second game as they travelled to newly promoted Southampton. Despite enjoying less of the ball, Forest created more chances, eventually taking one late with a Morgan Gibbs-White strike.

Two 1-1 draws followed, firstly in the EFL Cup against Newcastle. Joe Willock put the visitors ahead after just one minute, but this was cancelled out by Jota Silva. However, Forest were defeated on penalties. They then came away with a point at Wolves. Chris Wood scored 10 minutes in, though they were pegged back two minutes later.

Following the international break, they picked up a huge three points at Anfield, beating Liverpool 1-0. Callum Hudson-Odoi produced an excellent finish to give them the lead with 18 minutes to go, one they would not relinquish. Last time out they travelled to another unbeaten team in Brighton. They maintained their streak with a 2-2 draw. They took the lead through a Wood penalty, but the hosts turned it around with goals from Jack Hinshelwood and Danny Welbeck. Ramon Sosa levelled the score with 20 minutes to go.

Fulham

In their last five games, Fulham have won one and drawn three and lost one. It has been a solid start to the season for Fulham, and this continued in their latest game at home to Newcastle. They were 3-1 winners and took the lead early through Raul Jimenez. Emile Smith-Rowe doubled the lead midway through the first half, but Harvey Barnes halved the deficit immediately after the restart. Reiss Nelson put the game to bed in stoppage time.

This followed third round EFL Cup action in which they failed to advance after a dramatic penalty shootout. After drawing 1-1 after 90 minutes, they were beaten 16-15 on spot-kicks. A pair of 1-1 draws in the league preceded this, first at Ipswich. Liam Delap gave his side the lead early, but Adama Traore found the back of the net to ensure the points were shared.

Against West Ham they were denied a win in second-half stoppage time as Danny Ings cancelled out a Jimenez opener. The first game of this run was at Birmingham in the second round of the EFL Cup. Away from home, they were 2-0 winners to advance to the third round. Jimenez and Jay Stansfield were the scorers.
