Super 6 Predictions: Round 18

Super 6

Arsenal 2-1 Nottingham Forest

Despite their recent form, Arsenal's record over Nottingham Forest has proven that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side has struggled at the Emirates.

The Gunners have won the previous five meetings at the Emirates - which includes a 5-0 win for the hosts in 2022. Arsenal are without a clean sheet in their previous three, so Forest could be the ones to score first in this fixture, having scored first in each of their previous five.

Over 2.5 goals have been scored in six of the previous eight meetings between the two sides. Arsenal are unbeaten at home this season, with six wins in eight at the Emirates in all competitions this season.

Aston Villa 2-1 Crystal Palace

Neither side is in particularly stellar form heading into this game, with Aston Villa winless in their previous five, with four defeats.

Crystal Palace have won two of their previous four in all competitions. However, the Eagles are yet to win away from home in the Premier League this season with three defeats and two draws in five away fixtures.

Aston Villa have only lost once this season in the Premier League at Villa Park, and the Villains are unbeaten in their last four on home soil. Neither side has kept a clean sheet in their last three each, and in this fixture, both teams have scored in six of the previous eight meetings.

AFC Bournemouth 2-2 Brighton

On paper, both of these sides enter this game with similar records over their previous five respective fixtures.

Bournemouth come into this game, with two wins in their previous five, accompanied by two losses and a draw - albeit those two wins were rather impressive against the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City. Brighton possesses the same record with two wins, a draw and two losses - interestingly, one of those victories was also against Manchester City. Neither side has kept a clean sheet in their previous three, with Over 2.5 goals scored in eight of the last nine involving the visitors.

Manchester City 2-1 Tottenham

Neither of these sides are in particularly good form, so this isn't an easy one to predict.

Recent head-to-head encounters have been dead even, with both sides winning twice and the other ending a draw from the last five meetings. Both teams to score has occurred in all of the last four games of each time, so we expect that trend to continue here.

Ultimately, while Spurs have had success against City in recent years, they've only won once at the Eithad since 2016, and given their own run of poor form it feels like they're not in a good enough place themselves to take advantage of City's woes.

Southampton 0-3 Liverpool

Liverpool are flying at the top of the Premier League and come into this game unbeaten in their last 13 games, winning 12 of those.

Southampton, on the other hand, have won only one game this season, losing nine of their 11 matches. The Saints have failed to score in two of their last three matches, while Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in both of their last two. In fact, Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in six of their 11 games so far this season.

Ipswich Town 0-2 Manchester United

Manchester United have managed to restore some pride to their form despite the circumstances in their managerial situation.

The Red Devils are unbeaten in their previous four - with three wins and a draw under the interim management of Ruud van Nistelrooy. Manchester United have been the first to score in five of their previous six games in all competitions, facing an Ipswich Town side who are without a clean sheet in their previous seven.

United have already overcome newly promoted Southampton and Leicester City this season, including keeping a clean sheet away at Southampton. The Tractor Boys are off the mark in the Premier League following their away win over Tottenham Hotspur. However, the hosts are yet to win a home game at Portman Road this season. Manchester United ranks second in clean sheets this season, behind Liverpool with five, and goalkeeper Andre Onana leads the charts with single individual clean sheets with five also.
