Things more likely than Newport County beating Manchester City in the FA Cup

Giant killing on the cards?

On Saturday evening, Newport County face the titanic task of facing Manchester City in the fifth round of the FA Cup, as they look to complete what would be one of the biggest upsets of all-time.

Even by the FA Cup’s standards this would be a shock of epic proportions, as the Rodney Parade outfit look to defeat the swashbuckling Premier League champions and moneybags City.

Already defeating higher league opposition in the cup in Leicester and Middlesbrough at home this season, this will be a completely different kettle of fish for Michael Flynn’s team. A squad stacked with superstar players such as Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Sergio Aguero.

Regardless of who plays, the League Two side can expect a tough evening on Saturday, but you just never know in the FA Cup.

That said, the bookmakers aren’t believing in the magic of the cup, pricing Newport at 35/1 to defeat Manchester City, while the away team are priced as low as 1/20 with Bet365, BetVictor and Paddy Power, who are all expecting a comfortable victory for the visitors.

As such, there are some bizarre things with better odds of coming in than a Newport victory tomorrow evening, many of which you can find below.

More likely outcomes

Where better to start than with Paddy Power. As ever, there are some incredible markets on the Irish bookmaker’s site, some of which you wouldn’t believe would be more likely than a potential outcome of a football match.

Declan Rice can’t have been the most popular man in Ireland this week when he chose to play for England, but there is a belief that he could be a hero in England. You can currently back Rice to receive a knighthood at some stage of his life at 14/1.

Elsewhere, odds have been released on the name of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s next child, with the name ‘Ye’ priced at 25/1 and, therefore, more likely to occur than a Newport victory in the eyes of the bookmakers.

They have even gone as far as saying that Donald is a 14/1 candidate, due to the rapper’s relationship with the controversial President of the United States. Speaking of Trump, he can be backed to be pictured eating a Mighty Mac by the end of 2019 at a very reasonable 33/1, that after he celebrated with the Clemson Tigers by eating an array of fast food.

The Eurovision song contest is approaching in the next few months, with the UK again destined to try and fail to win it for the first time since 1997 and Katrina and the Waves effort of ‘Love Shine a Light’.

There are 42 countries set to take part this year and despite a 22-year wait for victory in the competition, the UK are still more fancied than Newport this weekend at 30/1 to finally end their duck.

Now to the even more bizarre in the potential future godparent to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s child. According to Paddy Power, Serena Williams is more likely to be made godmother at 33/1 than an upset taking place at Rodney Parade on Saturday.

SkyBet have been taking RequestABets on the potential name of their child also, offering theme-packaged odds. For example, the price of the child to have the same name as one of the members of One Direction (Liam, Niall, Louis, Zayn or Harry) is 20/1.

Elsewhere, This Morning (Holly or Phil) is 20/1, with Heavyweight Champions (Anthony, Joshua, Lennox or Lewis) being 33/1.SkyBet also believe it is more likely that Margaret Thatcher becomes the new face of the £50 note, pricing the divisive former Prime Minister at 25/1.

In football, Liverpool to win the Premier League and Champions League (20/1), Jermain Defoe to score 20+ goals in the Scottish Premiership this season (33/1) and Gareth Bale joining Tottenham this summer (33/1) are all more likely than Michael Flynn getting the better of Pep Guardiola.

In other words, Newport have their work cut out to get a result this weekend.
