Xander Schauffele is no stranger to major success, winning the PGA Championship and Open Championship in 2024. However, this could be his year to make his long-awaited breakthrough at The Masters.

The 32-year-old ticks plenty of the trend boxes, including having proven form at Augusta- finishing in the top ten in five of the last seven editions, and a career-best T2 in 2019.

Augusta rewards in-form players; another big boost for Schauffele, who has finished in the top ten in three of his last four starts, including a most recent T4 at the Valspar Championship.

Left-handers have an excellent record at The Masters, with six winners since 2003 backing this argument. While much of the focus is on Robert MacIntyre, Akshay Bhatia is one going under the radar.

The 24-year-old showed his nerve to hold off Daniel Berger in the playoff at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March, indicating that he’s ready to finally lay a glove when the lights shine brightest at a major.

Bhatia has made the cut on his two previous starts at The Masters, taking a share of 42nd 12 months ago. His breakthrough on the PGA Tour this year was followed by an eye-catching T13 at The Players.

Ludvig Aberg has always threatened to land a major honour, but he has typically struggled in the final round. Evidence of that was found once again at the Texas Open after fading to T5 when going two-under on the final day.

But the 26-year-old should be respected for a top-ten finish, with his recent form of T3-T5-T5 reading very strong. The Swede also excels at Augusta, having finished second on debut in 2024, before taking seventh 12 months ago.

A major winner in waiting, and his consistent game ensures that he is a solid top-ten play at 6/4.

Jon Rahm is among the favourites this weekend, meaning that there could be value in opposing the Spaniard in the top European market. As mentioned, recent form is a big plus, meaning Matt Fitzpatrick holds an outside chance of winning a second major.

Fitzpatrick was last seen winning the Valspar Championship last month, holding his nerve in the final round to finish a shot clear of David Lipsky.

The Englishman has huge experience at The Masters, finishing in the top 25 on five occasions, and a career-best seventh in 2016. The stars look to have aligned, and the trip to Augusta comes at the perfect time.
