So, it’s set to be quite the contest, but that’s nothing new when these two teams meet. We’ve been treated to so many thrilling encounters down the years, but which games stand out?

Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 Manchester United – 1995/96

This one will stick out more than most clashes with Manchester United for Spurs fans. A sensational New Year’s Day performance saw Tottenham run riot over a star-filled Manchester United side, including David Beckham, Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs and Eric Cantona.

Teddy Sheringham put the home side ahead, but it took just one minute for Andy Cole to equalise. From there, Spurs were rampant.

Sol Campbell put them back ahead, before Chris Armstrong netted a brace to ensure a day to remember at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur 3-5 Manchester United – 2001/02

Every now and then, the Premier League treats us to these crazy, goal-filled games and this was certainly one of them.

Unbelievably, Tottenham were 3-0 up in this one following goals from Dean Richards, Les Ferdinand and Christian Ziege.

However, in traditional Alex Ferguson style, the Red Devils rallied and five different scorers contributed to monumental comeback win.

Andy Cole, Laurent Blanc, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Juan Sebastian Veron and David Beckham were on the score-sheet as United pulled off one of their greatest comeback wins.

Manchester United 5-2 Tottenham Hotspur – 2008/09

Fast forward the best part of a decade and we have another similar score-line, and indeed a similar game, this time at Old Trafford.

Tottenham raced into a 2-0 lead in the first-half thanks to goals from Darren Bent and Luka Modric.

However, united answered the question, scoring five second-half goals via a brace each from Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, and Dimitar Berbatov rounded off the scoring against his former club.

Another stunning comeback and another date with Tottenham to remember for United.

Tottenham Hotspur 1-3 Manchester United – 2009/10

This one wasn’t quite as free-scoring an encounter, but it saw United complete another comeback, this time at White Hart Lane.

Jermaine Defoe put the home side ahead within one minute of this early-season encounter, but United got themselves back on terms 24 minutes later through Ryan Giggs.

Anderson then put United ahead before the break and Wayne Rooney rubber-stamped the win with just over 10 minutes left on the clock.

Manchester United 2-3 Tottenham Hotspur – 2012/13

This one Is one for the Tottenham fans to recall with a smile.

This five-goal thriller provided us with a frantic three minutes which would go on to decide this game.

Tottenham lead 2-0 thanks to an own goal from Jonny Evans and a Gareth Bale strike. United then got back into it through Nani on the 51st minute, before Clint Dempsey restores Spurs’ two-goal lead with a goal less than a minute later.

Shinji Kagawa then scored less than a minute later to make it three goals in less than three minutes and to ensure a nervy finale for Tottenham.

However, Spurs held on to make it an occasion to remember at Old Trafford.
