It's been a strange weekend of football with the Premier League and Championship on hold due to the international break. The UEFA Nations League kicked off it's maiden weekend with the nations focus shifting back to the Three Lions after their impressive summer showing at the World Cup. But away from the events at Wembley, we saw a full fixture list across League 1 and 2, non-league and even The FA Cup.
The big boys don't enter The FA Cup until the third round but there's still an awful lot of business to attend to before that, with clubs from the lower reaches of the football pyramid hoping to progress through to the first proper rounds of the tournament.
One of which was Northern Counties East League Premier Division outfit Maltby Main, who had a tricky looking tie against Frickley Athletic to attend to yesterday. It was afternoon full of ups and downs which unfortunately resulted in them exiting the competition after going down to a 2-1 defeat - but it was a memorable day for one man in particular.
Goalkeeper James Pollard produced one of the best saves we've seen this season, with a superb double save to keep his side in the game. He not once, but twice produced the goods with his second save seeing him somehow keep out a header destined for goal. If we saw David de Gea or Ederson pull this off we wouldn't hear the end of it!
